Moldy Pontoon boat
I was called today by a gentleman who has a pontoon boat with mold stained carpet from sitting on a lake all the time. I cleaned it once last year, but the results were not very good. I guess the owner was happy with it as he wants me to clean it again.
It is a nice grade of poly marine carpet with thick rubber backing. I hit it with everything last time (Peroxide, Sporicidin enzyme, pro-zyme, S/O, and even borax). I got some improvement with the peroxide and Pro-zyme, but you could still the discoloration.
Any of you guys living near the water have a good treatment other than just replacement? The owner is selling the boat and doesn't want to invest in new carpet.

Re: Moldy Pontoon boat
micro-ban will stop it from getting worse.. but theres a point with marine carpet just like soft tops on cars or boat bimini tops that it just needs to be replaced
Re: Moldy Pontoon boat
Chlorine will take the spot right out
But you know what? Some rug pros will dilute chlorine and use it on urine soaked wool rugs believe it or not. I guess its diluted enough so that it doesn't take the color out

I clean boats once in a while, but haven't run across that prob, yet.
So I guess I'm not much help, sorry.

Wait, I just had a thought. Have you ever heard of a product called "Wet n Forget"??
Maybe that would do it?
