Potential Fresh / Waste Tank

Potential Fresh / Waste Tank
I have always wanted a cone shaped tank like I see on the grain farms.....here is one that might work.
https://www.dultmeier.com/products/0.920.2423/55
The idea being that having the cone bottom, it will dump quickly and not leave anything behind to develop odors or stagnate. Just install a drain bung to the bottom and away you go.
For the price, I might add one as an additional holding tank for waste water and just run the APO to it. That will give me the 110 (?) TNT waste tank plus another 120 gallon holding tank much like the 210 gallon tank that I carry now. I like being able to hold that much so that I don't have to dump tanks until I get home and for flood work.
(Can you tell that I am excited about getting my box truck home?)

Must be nice to have the space and power to carry everything you need.
Re: Potential Fresh / Waste Tank
The smallest one available is 150 gallons though ?
And how are you going to route the blower hose to both tanks ? Isn't that will kill your cfm running your blower to both tanks ?

I'm looking at it for a waste holding tank separate from the vac system. Just run the pump-out to it for all-day capacity.
Re: Potential Fresh / Waste Tank
But then how are you going to transfer the waste water from the waste tank to this "extra tank" ? I'm confused, sorry

A top heavy tank could be problematic with the stop and go repetition of being in a vehicle.

Just pump it from the TNT tank to the holding tank with a bilge pump, nothing special.

I agree with that, but this truck was built to be top heavy with stacks of soda pallets 8 rows high. I'm still kicking it around, might not use it. Still kind of in the on-paper stage.
Re: Potential Fresh / Waste Tank
But if you're going to pump it from the waste tank to another tank, why can't you just pump it out ? If you don't dump on customer's lawns, then you can pump it out to their toilets or sewer, it will take a few extra minutes to set up and roll the dump hose, but at least that will save you a few bucks a day from fuel ( carrying extra 100 - 150 gallons of waste water ) not to mention it's dangerous in your situation due to snows and icy roads, etc ?
Sorry, just my opinion

I meant top heavy as far as the tank leaving or bending the mount while stopping.

All perfectly valid. I will only dump on the job when they have a sewer access port outside the home, which has become difficult as they keep locating them in odd places.
My biggest need is on commercial where I would have to stop cleaning, disengage, and drive over to the drain several hundred feet away every 100 gallons if I just relied on the TNT's tank. It is pretty normal for me to go through 200 gallons on most jobs and I hate the idea of losing time due to storage.
I always avoid driving very far with a full waste tank for the reasons that you mentioned...sometimes, but rarely.

That was one of the selling points to using this beverage truck as I have sturdy compartment walls to anchor anything to for stability. I can't say this has worked out very well thus far, but the walls should off-set a lot of those concerns.
It should also help isolate compartments in the event of a fire....should only destroy a compartment instead of the whole truck.

Ohhh the F word!!!......let's not even think of Fire!

Mo wrote:Rob did you make a separate compartment for the LG?
It will be sharing the compartment with the fresh water tank and water softener.....kind of a built in fire extinguisher system. It will remain highly isolated from the TNT and everything else for that matter.
Re: Potential Fresh / Waste Tank
Smart man. The last LG fire that I recall was started by an engine leaking oil and splattering on the little giant
Re: Potential Fresh / Waste Tank
Sounds like a good plan, Rob!
