3M sprayers Empty 3M sprayers

Post by milspec6 Mon Jun 08, 2015 10:21 am

I purchased a 3M Multi-sprayer about a year ago with a new 50 psi pump. I liked the idea behind the sprayer a great deal, but never cared for the low spray pressure. It was okay for upholstery or applying a protector, but compared to an inline hydro-force type sprayer it felt anemic and almost un-useable.

Well, the peroxide destroyed the pump after a couple of months and the sprayer has been sitting in the basement ever since. I still like the concept and wish it would be the answer for me, so I started taking another look at this thing.

The funny part is that it has an AquaTec 50 psi pump (same one I find recommended when I shopped for a replacement), but the original pump was a 70 psi....which I can't seem to find. I don't know if 20 psi would make much of difference, so what I really want is a pump with more power.

Anyone use one of these sprayers? Does the 70 psi feel strong enough for applying pre-spray? What is the largest pump that can fit.....100 psi or maybe 150 psi would feel much better to me.

To clarify, this is the corded version which I greatly prefer over battery. This should allow me the power resource to drive a stronger pump.

3M sprayers Empty Re: 3M sprayers

I've been using an electric sprayer for a couple years now, and wouldn't work without it now.
I use it mostly to on encap jobs, and to pre-spray furniture/Tile n Grout.
I think it's a 60PSI pump, which works perfect for what I use it for, after adding my own brass wand with adjustable spray tip. But I couldn't see it putting out enough volume to pre-spray most carpets.

But I like and use the battery type, and have always been amazed how long it goes between charges...........weeks at least! I've never had it die on me mid job, but I charge it every few weeks or month just because I'm afraid it will die on me mid-job.

It's made by Hudson, yellow in color, and I bought it on Amazon. Also I run Peroxide threw it all the time, and so far so good.

I guess my real problem was expecting it to be able to apply prespray to carpets. I did like it for upholstery.....I guess I will just replace the pump since I have 6 spare jugs for it which makes changing out chemicals really quick.

I just found it a poor choice to sell this sprayer with a carpet spray wand when you really aren't going to be spraying a room-full of carpet at 50-70 psi. I guess that was the fine print that I missed when I bought it.

Remember TACT ? if you want to use it for the carpet, just make the solution more concentrated, that way you spray a little less but more potent solutions will help dissolves the soils.
I have one and used it often a little while ago, but then slowly finding myself crawling back to hydroforce.

I'm not sure that really works, or does it?.........I always kinda thought you needed enough water/moisture to perpetrate or surround the fibers?.........rather than just a light dusting. Plus if you're real light like that it's going to dry real fast, and you won't be able to pre-spray a couple rooms at a time.

LOL, TACT = Time Agitation Chemical Temperature, if you lessen one, you have to add another.
And Dave is somewhat right, it depends on the job, if the carpet is extremely soiled, then battery sprayer will not do justice to get the job done right, actually it will but it will take a long time to do the pre spray.
