Inline Sprayers
I just took some time to replace the siphon blocks on my inline sprayers....have 3 "like new" guns now. One of the great things about taking the time to do that is you realize a few things that you may not have known.
1. One of my tubes were clogged completely with encap that didn't get rinsed out.
2. One had a collapsed metering insert and was blocking flow
3. All of them needed the filters cleaned out
4. All of them had damaged gaskets on the inlet side of the siphon block.
Did you even know that you had mesh filters in there? Many people do not and probably nobody ever services them...myself included until rebuild time. The kits that you find on-line with Dp's friends have everything in that kit to include the tiny gasket on the inlet side of the block....without it, they will leak and possibly suck air.
Now I am ready for some heavy, no leak spraying.

Re: Inline Sprayers
Geez, I never knew that there was a filter in the Dema valve (siphon block)? I wonder what mine looks like, guess I'll find out tomorrow!
This job/biz never ends, if it's not cleaning for money it's doing maint/cleaning for no money, so you can make that money.

Re: Inline Sprayers
You don't have a HF type sprayer? Then what do you pre-spray carpet with, I wonder?

Oh OK I got yea.
I think my electric is too slow compared to my HF type sprayer. I just don't have the patience for doing carpet with electric.

I wouldn't mess around with that 20 years old HF that is working fine, otherwise you might open up a can of worms, remember the old saying "if it ain't broken, it ain't needs fixing"

Ok I've just got to ask, has anyone ever thought about or tried having a tank in the van with a 12 volt pump wired to the van and just have a way to connect the solution hose. Or a separate hose. Then prespray what ever you want. Just curious?

Re: Inline Sprayers
Thats a great idea ACE....another tank in the truck! less mixing etc. I have two good ideas for the Carpet Cleaning industry but will never get to them as I have one I may fire up for the average Home Owner.
One thing I hate about my HF is the pressure, I wish it was a little more delicate....its perfect for outside but it just sprays heavy pressure for indoors...I always got to be real careful.

Re: Inline Sprayers
Something to try on the pressure deal. If you have a shutout valve try turning it half way then adjust from there to get the pressure you want.

Re: Inline Sprayers
There was a member who did that back on the "Cafe", but I don't recall who it was.
Out in Laguna, we used to carry backpack sprayers by Solo. It worked well enough, but I didn't really care for carrying around a sprayer like that all job.
I only spray at full psi on commercial, residential I set the machine at 250 psi. Sure, it means another walk to the van to adjust when I am ready to wand, but I normally forget something anyway so it isn't a big deal.
I guess you could add a psi regulator at the QC if you wanted to. They do make some small regulators like that....even ACE's idea of closing off the shut off valve a little might help, but then I would want a psi gauge too.
Isn't there a HF with a psi control? If not, we just discovered a great new product.....let's build this one before they do gang!!!
Seriously, let's build the "Lounge Sprayer"

Re: Inline Sprayers
Couldn't you just replace the sprayer tip/jet for less flow?

Re: Inline Sprayers
There are different metering tips (colors ) pull the siphon hose off it screws in the barb that the hose goes on.

Re: Inline Sprayers
I used to pull those metering tips out and just go 1:1 with the concentration adjusted accordingly. Nothing ever clogged that way, but I am back to the yellow tip....never did use of the other tips.
I also add a little mint scent to the mix so that I get some feedback on if the sprayer isn't just shooting water. Beyond that, you are supposed to use a bucket to measure the metering, but as long as I smell mint, I am okay with it.
