I have a repeat customer that's been with me since I started in LA many years ago and we cleaned her carpets and area rugs last week, this morning she texted me and asked me if I cleaned her family room rug, I told her yes I did, she proceeded to tell me that it was dry when she got home while everything else were still damp, and that it didn't look much different than before it was cleaned, I told her it was polyester fibers while the other one is wool and thick nylon wall to wall in the bedrooms, I also told her that I'll schedule her for a come back, she said thanks, then she asked me how much would I charge to re clean the wool rug cause that one got wet too from raining water going in from the back sliding door, since the wool is a small rug ( 4 x 6 ) I told her that I will take care of it no charge, she thanked me and she told me she really appreciate it.
I went there and the whole house stunk with a musky smell from something got wet, it turned out both rugs were soaking wet a couple of days ago during the rain, I re cleaned them anyway without charging her.
What would you do if you were in the same situation ? Charge her full price ? Discount the price ? Or do it for free ?

For a  customer that has been loyal to me for that long I would have done it the same way you did DP.

I agree with Mo, no charge this time around although I would caution her about letting wet rugs just sit around like that...politely of course.

I'd prob at least charged half price or more, especially if it was a long time customer.......since they're  are usually understanding and it's easy to explain the situation to.

I do somersaults for good customers. I have been known to walk customers dogs while they were at work. You did the right thing.
