2790 question
What strength are you guys mixing the 2790 for T/G? It says dilutions are 0 to 5 parts water....is it based on the strength your looking for or has someone come up with a T/G mix amount.
Im thinking its just mix stronger as needed down to 0....I think I was expecting more of a specific ratio chart.

Re: 2790 question
That is kind of weird Devon. I have a very old gallon of 2790 and the label says 12 per gallon for heavy degreasing 2 oz per gallon for normal cleaning of walls etc.
Davey uses it all the time.

Re: 2790 question
Ive used it at 2oz/gal and it cleans pretty damn well, could maybe even go lighter for just soiled tile and then maybe heavier for showers etc
Re: 2790 question
Wow...OK,
well I run it at 14oz to a gal of water..and almost always no agitation is needed.
And from what I've read over the last couple years, I'm the only one on this forum that actually uses iit.

Re: 2790 question
The way it reads leaves me to think its a "find the right ratio" for whats being done.

Well, it was designed for commercial concrete cleaning after-all. The fact that we use it on T&G probably makes things complicated.
Unless it gives a ratio for tile cleaning, I would go with the lowest percentage on the tile as a starter. Then again, we have guys using it, so that makes them a better resource for advice.
Re: 2790 question
It mentions Tile and Grout on the bottle too....it may have been a second thought but it does make the mention.....so, its not like its being used for something other than is design.

Re: 2790 question
They must have realized the popularity, but I doubt it is a different compound...just a label change.
Re: 2790 question
yeah...I just did a T/G job and I did the two ounces for a gallon and it did okay....I tried it at 6 ounces per gallon and it was much better....so, I think depending on the level of soil needing removed and dwell time you want to wait....its a mix as needed type deal.
Im trying it on a really bad Gas Station type bathroom that has been in need for a couple years to really test it.....I will have results later.

Re: 2790 question
Bomb it with 14 oz a gal. Even at that high ratio how much are you really going to use? I only used a total of 1.5 pre-mixed gallons on an 800 s.f. T&G job I did yesterday. So that's only about $5 in chem for over $800 in cleaning.
Don't kill yourself mixing too weak, because the stuff really works if you go hot with it. Let it do the work, so you don't have to.

Re: 2790 question
I dont mind using it hot but its new to me and I need to learn it....last thing i need is some serious etching or something going on....but after using it im hearing you! I will use it strong for the little $165 job....even if I took a hammer to this place it would help....so no worries on this one. Thanks!

Re: 2790 question
Etching is only a problem on polished stone, or stainless appliances, as is any high alk chem.

Re: 2790 question
Yes, I did my own T/G and was happy but it was a little weak at first....then I did one for a customer and tried at 12 oz per G and was really happy with results....Then I hit the bathroom at the old Gastation and wished I had taken a pic! it really did well....it was pic worthy. The owner called his friend and he came over disappointed...he was the tile guy.

Re: 2790 question
It wasnt an odor issue...it was hard water and scum...its been closed doors for I think 3 years, old urine dried etc...the cool thing was I sprayed it heavy....went and did a small job....came back sprayed and scrubbed it ....went and had lunch.....then I took a high pressure hose and hit the whole thing....I could of called it good but I have this spinner thing that made me look cool (the whole 5x6 sf floor). lol It was one of those fun jobs that was CASH and filled the gas tank and paid for lunch....kept a few greenbacks for the ole wallet. Several people seen it and im sure I will get more work out of that.
