Re: What is your thoughts on the new credit cards
Havent ran into one yet but I have been wondering and waiting for what Square is going to do about this....
I figured I would get an email saying they have a new reader out for the rfid, but nothing so far

Oh so you just take a picture of the chip or swipe the chip?
Re: What is your thoughts on the new credit cards
its radio frequency, like they have at nice companies like microsoft for employee badges or ski resorts for the ticket lines
so the new card readers will have rfid readers, it prevents someone from taking a credit card and making a clone with a software programmed reader then transferring the mag stripe data on to a blank card.

As for the square reader's check your updates they already have a preorder list but it cost around 50 bucks. As for the card it's like AC said but here's the real thing it's soppose to be safer for your ID to protect us right. So if it's so safe then why are they selling these special wallets and stuff to keep thieves from using scanners that can read your card from 10 ft away with it in my pocket. Does that make sense seems pretty dang stupid if you ask me. The smarter the PHD's push here dummies get the more dummer they get.

I don't like it all, but then I am a caveman.
I doubt it is about security, it is probably all about gathering more marketing information. It will probably get read by cameras in businesses and then they will be able to tailor their marketing according to your habits.
Just like in the movies only worse, you can't walk out of this.

I have no idea about it. But maybe it's the reason I was send a new style Square reader out of the blue?
I thought it was weird it just showed up, and I didn't request it.

funny, just yesterday I got an email from square about new features they are adding like "no show protection" where you can take customers CC info when they schedule so you can charge a late cancellation or no show fee
but in the same email they showed their new rfid card readers, its a big one that the whole card slides into
is this what you got in the mail Davey?
