Tomorrow...

Wonder if it's what you guy's are running into?

you  just ran into the cheap grade smart strand..   I could show you some carpet that you prob wouldnt even know is smart strand

also if someone before you cleaned it with high pH then its ruined,    not even supposed to use chems on that stuff

it comes in many forms..     some cheap cut pile with speckles in it(terrible),      some low closed loop with square patterns (this one is great and cleans really well/easily)

theres no way the pic devon posted is smart strand, that carpet looks 20yrs old.. smart strand hasnt been out that long

I'm not saying any pic posted here is SS, but I know what I cleaned on Friday was SS is all, and what I'm referring to.
And for the first 2 years on it's life ( I clean it once a year), it was wonderful, cleaned great, I actually thought it was nylon. But now on year 3, it's turned in to a total mess.

How old are these SS carpets you're cleaning that you could show me "that you prob wouldnt even know is smart strand".

The ones I've run across, take a few years to really start showing their drastic fiber wear and dark traffic areas. Cheap maybe?......but I know the customer paid $2500 for 400 s.f. installed in 2 rooms.......but who knows, maybe she was over charged?, but she did do some serious price comparing before the purchase she said.

heres a few pics I found online that are just like the good ones ive cleaned,    Ive cleaned it anywhere from a year old to about 5years

these are some of the low pile,  patterned designs,    they hold up really well.     These are the more expensive versions

even comes in commercial grades

and here is the garbage smart strand in the pic below,   this is the cheap cut pile style..   its thin,   wears like poly and cleans like $hit.     usually ive seen it in grayish tone with speckled design,    you can tell its really thin when you pull a corner up.   you can get this stuff installed for under 1.60/sq ft and I have seen places advertise "cheapest pricing on smart strand!" customer doesnt know its the crap version

almost feels like a cheap bath mat from wal mart
