Happy to say that it has been the opposite down here. I just scheduled 3 large empty homes for the weekend that estimated at over $500 each for carpets and a stone tile job today in about 2 hours.

Last year was dead at this time and I mean dead! I was worried that it would be the same this year, but so far it has been good. Of course, it could chang on a dime as well.

Enjoy your quiet days as much as your busy ones and all will be good.

Sorry to hear that Terry. And, that's great Milspec. We had a great October up 32% over last year and 67% over 2011. That's with the same level of advertising as as last year, and 43% less advertising $$ than 2011. January 2011 through June 2011 were great and then July 2011 through December 2011 tanked bad. So far November is on track to be as good or better than October... cheers  Would be awesome if this trend can keep going for the next 20 years or so.

There you go...changes on a dime. It's the kind of industry that you just can't let yourself worry too much about during the slow times.

My Father was a mechanic and although we didn't have a lot of money, he never worried about a lack of business, because he always knew that it could change with the next guy who comes through the door. The amazing part is that it always did....for more than thirty years.

It has been better than last year for me. I did take a week off last month for a vacation, Last October I did 48 jobs, this October I did 65 and November has started off good also. Lets hope it keeps up.

October always slowed down for us, usually November picks back up but I have to say it hasn't been all that great, this week we only average 4 jobs a day, usually by this time we're already averaging 6 - 7 jobs a day, this is kind of scary because in the past when it slows down, it always picks up like crazy the following week. That's why I'm doing all the maintenances last week and this week to prepare for next week.

October is always my busiest month of the year. This October was slower than years past. Normally we're turning work down in October but not this year. We weren't slow but we weren't slammed like we normally are.

What is the slow season for you guys in Florida? It would seem to me that you would be going strong year round...especially during the winter months.

Yeah it stays steady year round here. October usually is crazy busy leading into the holidays. This year it never got crazy busy, just steady.

How about March - April ? Those are usually our slowest months due to tax season.

My slow time depends a lot on the housing market. When they are selling, my network of agents are wearing my phone out. Last year, March was actually one of my best months.
