Freize Carpet
Am I the only one who hates the freize carpets? I find them ugly and just as ugly after cleaning most of the time. Why in the world are people still buying this stuff when there are some high quality nylons out there that are vastly superior.
In my area, most of the newer housing developments offer the freize as an "upgrade" in new construction which makes me laugh. If that is an upgrade, I sure would hate the standard grade that was the other option (astro turf?). Someone please tell me that it has seen its 15 minutes of fame and is dying off rapidly. If I have to see this stuff on a daily basis, I am going to start charging extraa!

Re: Freize Carpet
Yep. Same here. Construction grade crap. Awful wear. I have it in mine and hate it. We vacuum everyday just to keep the pile from crush. It's has a poor thread count too. Traffic areas are pretty much screwed from the start if it's heavy soiled. I make sure to stress this during pre inspection.

Re: Freize Carpet
Profit margin on freize is really high. That's why its pushed.
Kinda like grey goose vodka, people constantly hear that's its premium, eventually they start to believe it, even though its garbage.

Re: Freize Carpet
I have seen the poly blend carpet more and more in homes. The custy has no clue what they have.
Re: Freize Carpet
I hate cleaning the lower end Frieze, but like the high end ones. The higher end stuff has more filaments and better twists seems to hold up well even in the traffic areas.
Re: Freize Carpet
I will have to take your word for it, I haven't seen any high end ones around here.
Just detest the stuff...especially on stairs.

Re: Freize Carpet
Same here. Hate it. I swear it's in 20% of the homes here. Using a crb and alot of peroxide seems to help but never perfect. I always get right down on the carpet with the customer and show them how the side of the fibers are exposed to traffic and thats why with no amount of cleaning can bring back the original luster. The yarn is just too beat up to reflect light.
This can save your butt on a job where they expect brand new freize. Just ain't happening lady. If you dont like what I have to say im leaving rather than having you all pissed off because you dont think I got them clean enough.
I do think I'm seeing less of it. Now I'm starting to see more textured mixed pile. Like with a tiny diamond pattern.

No, you're not the only one who hates it. I do too. It stains very well, lol!

Re: Freize Carpet
I see some from time to time. I am always told it is premium carpet by the client. Did one the other day that was two years old and it looked worse than my fifteen year old carpet. I always try to set expectations low when I encounter it.

ODIN wrote:I love it cleans up every time with this one simple weird trick which not only works every time will also give you a stream of referrals. Customers pay top dollar and never question price.
If you would like more info on this weird trick I will let the first 25 cleaner in on it for only 99.99 after that the price goes to 299.99
A pair of really dark sunglasses only cost $9.50.

And I'll let you know the "weird trick" for less than the cost of the sunglasses!!

Re: Freize Carpet
I just did the high end version of it sometimes last weekend, customer asked me how old do you think my carpet is, I said probably about 2 years old, she said nope, it's 5 years old and that cleaning I did was the first cleaning, I was blown away by how well it cleans, I'd tackle that any day of the week over nylon cause that's way easier on my back and it cleans with almost no efforts at all.

What was the difference...tighter fiber twists? Did you see a lot of difference than the "low grade" in appearence?
Re: Freize Carpet
You guys are confusing style of carpet with fiber type.A twisted yarn nylon frieze holds up well in high traffic because it is,well, twisted and blends in better when cleaned.A poly carpet is a whole other ball game with any style of carpet.I usually go unglided for this crap fiber for better agitation, and I guess I will be doing alot more of that because the mills are pushing it out.Pre qualifying is the key to less headaches with customers and poly.

That is a great point. I have only been seeing the poly version and didn't consider that it could be produced with better materials as well.
Just who was that masked man??

Yes it is. That gal paid her dues on the van for a year and half before she took over admin. She is amazing at what she does. Good at it too.
