Joe's hood cleaner.

For you guys who use it and Joe, how are you liking this stuff?

I don't have any hoods to clean, but I am curious if you use this to boost your S/O in a greasy carpet situation?

Is this also a DfE rated product?

I am about to tackle a job tonight (much sooner than I thought) for a custy that has fuel oil soot on his carpets from the furnace he just replaced.

Tim M told me S/O will get the job done. I ask about the hood cleaner, just in case I get a grease pit to clean. I prefer to use Joe's stuff wherever I can. If this hood cleaner is the bomb for grease in carpet, then I have no need to seek out a citrus cleaner for "just in case".

Nobody has bought any yet, I'm not really pushing it. Just tested in my shop for couple months and know it will do the job. It cleans parts well and is a great hand cleaner, gentle on skin but still effective.

YES it's DfE Safe.

If he likes it, then I start selling it.

I never got if we could use this product to boost greasy carpets. If we could, I would be interested in a gallon.

It's a cleaner with solvent added, solvents specialized for releasing long chain hydrocarbons, mainly suited for food based greases. It's got S/O as well. The solvents are low volatility like what you know as NVDS-olvents (DfE really frowns on VD-solvents). This stuff will cut thru dried fingernail polish but it takes longer than harsher higher volatility solvents. So dwell time is a factor. With hoods you mist it about 20:1 and by the time you've agitated, it will rinse clean moderate amounts of oils. Best part is it's non corrosive, non hazardous, safe to use around people and pets. Leaves my hands soft, not stripped dry like normal solvents.
The stuff ain't cheap. It costs more than d-limonene but I'm eating most of the cost. You can use this as a carpet cleaner too and it will cut thru grease better than SO alone but only on food based oils/greases - since that's what it's made from.
You'll always be better off with petroleum based solvents and cosolvents like butoxy ethanol for removing petroleum based stains like black traffic lanes (parking lot asphalt).

I want to be able to add it when I need it. Not like some cleaners that I am exposed to it at all times.

I bet this hood cleaners would be a nice tile and grout cleaners too

I have used this with our house cleaning teams in the kitchen. They said it works good. Still testing.


Joe, did you say that we add this to s/o to boost? Or just use it as is because it has s/o in it already.

There's no need to use it as a booster because it has S/O in it. Use it as a stand alone and be amazed.
