Gotta love when you get a new customer who's main concern isn't price........
I did a Yelp job yesterday, and when I booked it last week she never mentioned price...just said "I need carpet and furniture cleaned, when can you do it"?
So I got there yesterday and gave her the price, $440 for 600 sf carpet, a sofa and chair. She said "OK get started, I need to get this done"!
Yeeees Mam!! :queen:

That's my type of customer the type we should be targeting.
Davey, Would you say Yelp is a good place to find those customers?

Those are the good ones indeed. Instead, I have to play "where's the nickel" with apartment managers. Actually had one today that objected to the sales tax as if it was my pricing and wanted to count that as part of my fee.

You charged sales tax ?? I hope for solutions only cause labor is not taxable :-)

We are required to collect sales tax in Nebraska since 2002. The only exception would be if you were cleaning the concrete driveway or parking lot. Everything else either in the building or part of the building exterior is subject to sales tax.
Never really agreed with it, but what can you do?

Damn, I thought California is crazy with taxes, labor isn't taxable here.

Re: Wish they all worked out this way
but there is sales tax in cali so how do you work that dp?
no sales tax in oregon, nice to go shopping there since you dont have to pay luxury taxes etc

YES, it is a GREAT Place to get high end customers........IF You target them, with your wording, and Do Not offer $50 deals for $25, type of thing!!! ......since the beginning of this year, I've consistently had high dollar jobs from Yelp, with the exception of Two jobs, that were really small, and ended up being just the $120 min charge. The others that I mentioned have mostly been between 300-$1,000 Jobs.........BUT you can not do jobs like that IF YOU DON'T ask for them, or another wards give those big job quotes......no target fixation on just what you were called out to clean!
Some wonder why they have nothing but cheap A$$es calling them, HELLL00000000.....because they are attracting them with cheap advertizing, and wording targeted at the price shoppers!
No offense meant to anyone, just pointing out what I've observed.

Re: Wish they all worked out this way
good point, our yelp deal sucks I need to update it.
but none the less, yelp is not a legitimate company, and the review system is border line illegal
I dont have any bad reviews on there so it doesnt really matter, but my god you should see the reviews they block for some companies that are paying them high dollar

Service, or service work is non-taxable in CA...........so I've never had to deal with that type of tax.

Well, I'll give ya the short-ish lol answer for now cause I gota get to bed!......and go into further detail later, about stuff like the Co. you think has hidden bad reviews.
But, honestly I really don't know LOL what's a "good offer on Yelp", as I've never personally paid for advo on Yelp. BUT I would say, the $150 deal for $100 I've seen would be much better than the $50 for 25......at least then you're not targeting the total cheap focks!.....renters, collage kids looking for the best price and such.
I did it the HARD way on Yelp (Y), and never paid to advertize. BUT knowing what I do now about Yelp (Y) if I had to start over, I would pay to advertized from day one, just to just start it. And what I mean by that is, when I signed up on "Y" 3 yrs ago I just figured it's going to be like another advo I'd done, lucky to just break even after advo cost and expenses, that's why I blew off the "Y" sales calls to advo with them.......boy was I wrong, Luckily! I never thought "Y" would be such a great resource for new customers/jobs. But it took almost 2 years before I had enough 5 star reviews (10+) for that to happen, but man once it did, it's been nothing but money! I've been on there about 3 yrs now and have 27 5 star reviews, and One 1 star (by a douche I never worked for, that's another story lol) total, 9 of which are filtered (all 5 star). SO that kinda debunks your theory bout "Y" screwing those who don't pay........esp. since I've been listed in the number 1 spot in my Zip for the last several months, ahead of a co. that's been advo with them 3+ yrs I know of and that has 4-5 times the total reviews I do.
Bottom line, if you want high end customers, you need to target them, and that doesn't happen by offering $50eorth of service for $25.
Yelp works if you are patient, and do what you can to make it work.........it doesn't happen with only 3 good reviews, It took 10+ before my phone was ringing daily from yelp customers....and since then it's only gotten better!
OK, more later, sleep now!
