Printer Ink Removal.
Step One
Inform your client what your plan of action is. Always inform them what their expectation should be after completion. Remember to always create an achieveable resolution for your client. We always use this statement. " We are looking to achieve a 60-80% improvement." This leaves plenty of room for imperfections. Make sure to provide different solution to this problem. For use it was if all else Disney meet YOUR expectation them we will do a bonded insert that will cost an additional $$$. Now let's get started.
Here is the stain.
Step Two
Printer ink is comparable to crime scene dust. The first step should be to thoroughly vacuum the area with your vac hose cuff. Don't use your vacuum it will cross contaminate your next carpet vacuumed. After the area has been over several times with the cuff, apply a general cleaner. On this case we used S/O at 4oz in a trigger sprayer. Spray and extract with uph tool.
This should remove any lightly held ink on the fibers giving a lighter 25% improvement. Looks like this.
Step Three
Use advanced spotting products. You will use a few in this step.
1. Dry Solvent
2. Power Gel
3. Solvent Gel
4. Peroxide stain magic
5. Fels naphtha or filtration spotter
First apply the dry solvent lightly to the affected area and agitate in with a small hand brush or spotting shark. Don't apply water yet. Use your vac cuff to remove suspended ink. You will see an improvement with this step. Next extract. If you still have staining, move to applying power gel, agitate in and follow with solvent gel and agitate in with spotting shark. Again follow this step with a vac cuff to remove suspended ink. Follow with extraction. I recommend the uph tool for all extraction steps.
This should result in a 60% improvement.
Step Four
Lightly wet area and apply fels naphtha or dry solvent and follow by extraction. Repeat until you achieve the desired results. The final result should look like this.
Be patient and don't let any cats out of the house and you will have a happy client.

Great job Ryan!
Have you ever had any wicking back?
Better keep an eye on those cats too.

Re: Printer Ink Removal.
Never had wick backs on these. I think the cat was hiding. But we got the blame.

I have had great success with Vacaway's Spot&Boost. It's the only product that I buy from him, but its awesome on ink and filtration lines.
Nice tip about using the hose instead of a vacuum. You saved me a future 'oops!'

Re: Printer Ink Removal.
wow awsome job Ryan. Ive had great results with dissolve for ink but thats more ballpoint pen ink.
I hate when customers give you sh!t about the cats, they know your coming but they dont put them away even though you told them before not to have kids and pets running around.
one lady kept repeating "god, you guys really scared my cat with your vacuum noise" she must have said it 6 times, I dont know what she wanted me to say

Re: Printer Ink Removal.
Yeah IK. I called thirty minutes before arriving. Even gave her five minutes to get them together.
This ink to me is a walk in the park. The liquid gel type is must more difficult to deal with and large amounts usually don't yield those type results sometimes.
That's why having a carpet repair tool box is so important for us all to have.

Re: Printer Ink Removal.
I got a call from a client about cleaning crime scene dust and was looking into how to clean it. It was tracked all over the place from what they said. I had read that Spot&Boost would work but it looks like you got the method nailed. Thanks Bro.

It's gonna take some time. Be patient and success is around the corner. You can probably work that with the fels for the most part.

I like Spot and boost Green,
wonder what's in that stuff that makes it so effective.
Re: Printer Ink Removal.
Ryan, was this a laser toner spill? from the size of it I would imagine so.
I believe that would be more difficult than an inkjet spill.

ice job, Ryan.......I know how tedious this type of spot removal can be, and props to you for taking the time to do it.
