Electric Hose Reels
I hope to outfit another van in April and want to go with a powered hose reel for once...I think I am old enough to deserve it. Who makes a really good one? I am wanting one that works smoothly and isn't too hard to pull off the hose.
Pics would be a big help here....

Re: Electric Hose Reels
how much is that one gtech?
are the solution reels powered? not that you need them to be.
the reel in the first video looks pretty wobbly but maybe thats the way they all are.

Re: Electric Hose Reels
Great bit of information Joe, I like how you always have the insider's scoop on things. Some great options gang, I will start my research.
I really like the thought of winding up 300 feet of snow covered hose without having to manually do it. Should extend my shoulder's health far longer and really, it costs just a little more than a good wand and less than a rotary extractor. To me, that is a bargain.

Re: Electric Hose Reels
I have one of nicks, and its pretty nice....i almost only like the fact then when you pull it off, it doesnt just spool out...
Now for reeling up its nice and kinda buggy all at once....the buggy (which has a nice side) is that because it is belt driven...if it is caught up on things, it slips....the nice part...you wont take out a plant or some other thing the hose may get caught on...
Now the good part....the belt, you can take out links to make it less slippy (also makes it a little harder to unwind..but its only real bad the last 2 layers of hose) which will grab and pull through things....but no as much as a chain, which of course would almost tear a house down...
for the price...its a must...

Re: Electric Hose Reels
If I got another electric I'd get Nicks'

Never heard of these guys, but nice looking reels...that is another option in the running. There have been some great suggestions on here, some I didn't even know about.

Re: Electric Hose Reels
Thanks for that video, I feel like such an idiot all these years thinking that I didn't need one. I am constantly rolling up 300 feet by hand after a 6-7 hour cleaning job and it isn't a big morale booster...I am convinced that it will be on the new truck!!
Is there enough torque on that reel to pull the hose through a hoser as well...that would be darn convenient at the end of a day.

Re: Electric Hose Reels
I just talked to Nick Nellos, he said its $805 (shipping included) for a 200ft electric hose reel and $835 (shipping included) for a 250/300ft electric hose reel, he said it would be shipped to nearest dock in your town and you would have to pick it up from there. Give him a call @ 940-642-2503

Re: Electric Hose Reels
This has me thinking, and what I'm thinking is converting my manual reel, to an electric.
Anyone does this, or seen it done before??

Re: Electric Hose Reels
It was done before on the fomer board, but I don't recall who it was any more. It didn't look too difficult, but they ended up a little bulkier for the money.
