Soils and Oils Drums......
Are some of you still buying Soils and Oils by the Drum, from Joe?...why not?
I just ordered my second drum of Pre-spray, first one lasted me a little over a year (one man/one truck opp.). I found it to be economical and I love being able to tell my customers I'm using green DfE products on their carpets, upholstery and wool rugs. Not to mention no coughing or gagging while using it....they really seem to like that too.
I'm also now using SnO Encap for my Rinse (thanks to a recommendation here), and really like the way it works, and prevents wicking....from what I've seen.
Call Joe to get some! 253.653.7209
Oh, and I almost forgot, FREE Shipping too!
I really like and believe in Joe's Chems, and want to help support him ....

Re: Soils and Oils Drums......
Have my drum tucked away in the corner of the garage...about 1/2 full yet.
Will probably be adding a second one and an encap drum in April. It really is a great deal and the stuff is a versatile pre-spray that doesn't irritate.

Speaking of car interiors. What would be the best way to clean the ceiling of the car? Low moisture some how? I'm afraid of damaging it.

Cyclo polisher with softest brushes (grey color) and an encap works pretty good. Might even add "unsmoke" to it if they are a smoker.
Just have to avoid any stiff brushes as the felt is pretty delicate.

What Rob said^^^
Careful not to fuzz it up, with too aggressive agitation.
Don't HWE clean it. My advice is to avoid it like the Plague! Or refer it to your most dis-liked competitor.

Why not HWE it Dave ? I usually don't clean them but once or twice were asked and for the right price I cleaned them and HWE didn't damage anything so far *knock on wood*

Re: Soils and Oils Drums......
Auto headliners are just glued to the roof, that is why they fall down in cars owned by smokers. Running hot water into that fabric can cause the liner to separate and sag.
Generally, you should never need to clean the headliner. There is rarely anything coming into contact with a headliner, so with the exception of a shaken soda, coffee due to big pot-holes, or maybe a foot-print there shouldn't be the need.
The cyclo with grey brushes will just restore some life to it and remove the dust. If there is a greater need, a little encap sprayed at a light mist does a nice job at removing the dust or smoke odors.

DP, That's my fear with using HWE for headliners, and what Rob said, is it "falling down", or sagging/drooping.

Re: Soils and Oils Drums......
Vacaway does have some excellent products. I love "wham", but that one is gone now.
The only issue I have with Steve is that each product seemed the same to me. It just got confusing as to which one to buy. I do love the "Hell-gel" for getting out gum, that stuff works great.

Re: Soils and Oils Drums......
I wonder, has any one tried to boost soils n oils with hot sauce modifier?
wham smelled good, I thought the cleaning power was week. I used steves products exclusively for years. He always comes out with new stuff , the last (latest and greatest) thing I tried was intensity green. Was the best of anything else I used from him.

Re: Soils and Oils Drums......
I have some intensity green and some of the red....worked very well, but I didn't notice much difference between them. I guess that is what confuses me about that line of chemicals.
Still, very good stuff, just too many updates for me. When I find something that I like, I prefer to stick with it. I am not very good with change.

Only difference between the two is the red has a little ammonia added to it. I tried them both and found no difference in cleaning ability. So no need to subject myself to ammonia fumes, so ended up just going with the green.
The cool thing about intensity green, it can be used for vlm, hwe, and also emulsifier rinse.
I stopped using his chems , (and all encap for that matter) because I don't like the idea of spraying liquid plastic all over. You see what gums up on the bottom of your measure cup? I doubt that gunk would ever come out of your lungs. if you inhale a little mist each job, after a year how much plastic do you have in your system?
I have settled on procyon for VLM, I can pick it up local for 17 bucks a gallon. . VLM , HWE prespray, upholstery, and rinse. just boost as needed powder oxy, raise the ph and works amazingly well on dirty junk. One of the safest products on the market. No plastic

Re: Soils and Oils Drums......
You touched on an interesting topic....polymer's effects on a person.
I have seen what chemical exposures can do to a person and is why I went after S/O for as many uses as I could, but I hadn't thought about the encap's affects.
I applaud you for going after the safer route and not falling for the trap of just hitting everything with all the highly caustic products out there. More cleaners need to think about their health.
Growing up in a mechanic's shop, we used get soaked in brake fluid (caster bean) to the point that your hands would get red and swell up at the end of the day. Then you cleaned them off with gasoline......still surprised I am not dead. Now, the smart mechanics wear gloves...the others just die young.
This industry is dangerous if you work stupid. Choosing safer chems is the only way to go. I don't know what the health risks are to encap products, but sounds like you are making smart choices.

I always wondered about the safety of Encapsulants and polymers. Nobody has mentioned it before this post. Good job bringing it up. Anybody else have any data about this stuff we are inhaling?
Re: Soils and Oils Drums......
I never thought about that before. It is funny how all TM manufacturers show there TM's BLASTING steam to the ceiling, really is the worst thing you could do for several reasons, but also you are just taking in all that right to your lungs. Now add encap as a rinse and you are really taking it in.
It is a great selling gimmick but wrong in so many ways.

Re: Soils and Oils Drums......
I try to not get to carried away with this stuff, because if you start looking just about everything causes cancer, My mom didn't do anything and passed away last year from cancer, my Dad SCOOPED shovels of asbestos in the the stucco for years, made the stucco smoother easier to work with, I started when I was 15 years old working with him in the family biz and on every bag of stucco it says causes cancer, jeez buy 9:00 am couldn't breath through our noses from stucco snot, Drywall the same thing silica dust.
I think a lot depends on the person, some get affected by things more than others but it is never to late to start thinking about it and try and be safer with what we expose ourselves to.
