Re: a Q from a real cleaner
not if its a normal van...
1 not enough clearance for the tank
2 its a plastic tank, so it makes it a bot tougher...unless he found some round or special tank for it.....

Re: a Q from a real cleaner
I mounted mine under the van but I drive a box van and my tank is custom made. So yes, it can be done but not cheaply.

Re: a Q from a real cleaner
Good advice. Thanks. My truck and tank are now 15 years old but I will still call him.

Have one custom made to fit under the vac hose reel.. One that will act as a base for the reel?

better yet, dont talk to your insurance agent about fuel tank add ons lol they drop you if they find out your burning fuel for a heat inside... not because it isnt safe but because they fear what they dont know so easier for them to just drop you.
I dont see any reason why you cant mount a tank under the van, its a lot safer than having it inside the van. Kerosene is liquid fuel so there is no tank pressure.
Im not an expert but I would say that any tank just about would work. People add extra diesel tanks, propane etc all the time to vans. Just make sure its not the lowest thing to the ground underneath. Go long and skinny instead of a big fat tank.
Re: a Q from a real cleaner
When I worked at ILS they had spun alum. Tank with mounting bracket it held 7-10 gal I think.
Had a customer that wanted it mounted under van I found room where the spare tire went then cut a hinged door in the floor to fill the tank.

Re: a Q from a real cleaner
What my agent said was if you get into a fender bender and some one blows up from the tank, who pays? If its not part of the factory install.
Re: a Q from a real cleaner
If it is DOT approved and installed correctly installed your insurance.
If you have a fuel can in the van and it catches fire burns your van and customers house and OSHA says it's not approved to run the equip. with the fuel inside the van.
I'm just saying there's two ways to look at it. Better to error on the side of safety a DOT approved and mounted tank and drive safe.

Re: a Q from a real cleaner
I'm with Eddie on this one, mount it under van.
Why not by get small spun aluminum gas tank , and mount it under van where people mount propane tanks?
Left side of van, behind drivers door, between body and frame rail.
Here's the type I'm taking about, and your answer. ............
Click here, if you dare. b00m lol

Re: a Q from a real cleaner
Thanks Davey
The $144.99 7 gal tank is the one we used at ILS. We mounted these tanks on the front of trailers. I have seen these tanks bent up from where they turned to sharp backing up and still no leaks.
But mounting under van you have to be able to fill it up.
