Wood floor diversification
I know that I have posted about this before- here goes. In my local Bagel place and what do I find, a nice door hanger stacked up by the register. Sears carpet/tile and wood floor cleaning. Nice before and after pic. Some people say just get a 175 rpm floor machine and start doing this. The Dirt Dragon machine is now down to $2695 in price and people are starting to become aware of this service as I have recently been asked several times about it. I plan on buying this unit and hitting up all the Realtors in a 20 mile radius with a mailer. IS ANYBODY USING a DIRT DRAGON?
In this business you must be ahead of the curve, you must diversify to survive. A good example is Tile cleaning, 12 years ago it had just come on the scene, It's a great profit center and add on, couldn't survive not offering it now. In my opinion you really must consider this now, Stanley Steamer and Sears are full steam ahead with this- no pun intended. I don't want to be the guy coming in with a 175 rpm when others are doing this service with a made for woodfloor cleaning unit. Thoughts?

Re: Wood floor diversification
Well the public at large doesn't care how you get/got their floor clean. Since the majority of ccs are not aware of wood specific equipment I expect the public to be a few years behind them.
As for if you should do it or not... you should definitely do it. I made a youtube video about it and there is money in wood floors for sure. BTW I use a 175.

Re: Wood floor diversification
I have been cleaning wood floors for years. I bought two dirt dragons a couple of years ago and they completely suck. Probably should have sold them, but didn't feel like hassling with the shipping so I took them to the dump a couple of weeks ago. I use a buffer, works great, satisfies the customers. If you are don't want to use a buffer, I would recommend the Bona Power Scrubber. It has a solution tank, recovery tank, and two counter rotating brushes. I tried it out at the Bona School in Colorado earlier this year and it works great. Leaves the floor clean, dry and streak free. The price is right around $3,000. If I had an extra $3k I would buy one.
Re: Wood floor diversification
That's weird. Other users of the dirt dragon say it works great.
I have a 175 and pads. Not enough call at this point for me, to justify buying a machine.
Never have done a refinish/recoat on one yet.

Re: Wood floor diversification
Most people have too much pride to say they spent $3,000 on a useless piece of equip.

I was thinking the same thing....be cheaper to get a duplex machine and a squeegee or surface wand.

What was it that you didn't like about them?
