Little Giant clearence
Being new to using propane heat, how far away do things have to be to avoid cooking things?
I need to finalize my box layout and hope to place the heater about 6 inches away from everything, but I am afraid that might be way to close.

Re: Little Giant clearence
I've had my LG butted right up against my TM frame since day one, which is 6" or less from my blower and have never had a prob.

A plastic bucket rubbing up against my LG had suffered some battle wounds before tho.

Just put it somewhere the pilot won't blow out or on windy days you will be kicking yourself.
Re: Little Giant clearence
Btw, if you dont mind me asking... what is the height of the box on that new beverage truck you just pick up?
Re: Little Giant clearence
Don't know anything about propane tank but I do want to remind you to get a good size fire extinguisher since a good friend of mine that bought one of my older prochem shared his story about it blew up on him and threw him 6 feet behind his van
I will knock on wood for you Rob

Fuzz: Stand up height is 7 feet...maybe 7 ft 2"
Dp: I am approaching this in the safest way that I can. I have decided to keep several of the aluminum dividers in place to isolate the heater from the TNT....keeps the tm's fuel seperated from the open flame on the burner.
In fact, if I can find a hose reel to fit within the second compartment, I will only need to remove the center wall in compartment 1 to fit the TNT. That will provide tons of space to mount shelves onto those dividing walls....storage for everything!

So how high from the ground? I'm just kicking around buying that truck in Florida if I can get it in my garage. I doubt it tho. I really want one of those trucks. I'm so jelly right now.
Re: Little Giant clearence
Rob if you notice the TNT installs have the heart right next to the TM. The rational from Judsons is that the exhaust of the engine is pointed towards the cap of the LG and blowing the hot air out the back there by keeping the TNT well ventilated and running cooler.
But that location is to close to other combustibles lie fuel, oil, propane etc. I recall Bill Martins machine caught fire cause the motor leaked oil on the LG.
That's why I put mine the back of the van away from the engine. But then again guys run like that all the time with no issues.

Unless you have an RV door on that garage, it probably will not fit. I am guessing it is about 10 - 11 feet.
I kind of wish I bought the Florida truck too, just so much surface rust beneath this one. It is just cosmetic except the oil pan looks like crap and the engine brake came off the ocean floor...next on the list of updates.
I have to say it again, these are great trucks. I actually smile when I look out the kitchen window and see it in the driveway. Of course, when it is sitting in a snow drift, that might change.
As a note: The engine is rated for 310,000 miles before servicing anything major like the sleeves. Shop accordingly.

That makes sense, mine will be about 6 inches away from the TNT, but on the other side of an aluminum wall. The hose connection will pass through the wall about 32 inches high, so any fuel spillage will be nowhere near the heater. I don't have any desire to see anything burn up.

I just went out and measured for you (crudely with tape measure)...comes out just short of 10 feet at about 9 ft 7 inches
Re: Little Giant clearence
Unfortunately my neighborhood HOA wont allow commercial vehicles to be parked outside of homes. Damn snobs. My garage ceiling is exactly 10 feet tall. So without some serious renovation it wont make it. Sigh....

Now that does suck...I hate those crazy neighborhood HOA, they get out of hand at times. My garage is less than 8 ft and now room to install anything taller, so I can't make it work either. I am hoping to locate some storage building before the snow hits...I have my eye on 2 of them right now.
Re: Little Giant clearence
propane heat is pretty safe, its less combustible than gas. actually wont even burn as a liquid only as a vapor
open flame can be a concern but if your smart its not an issue, a heat exchange slide in can catch fire as well and has happened many times before.
old oil gets ignited, thermostat gets stuck and machine drastically overheats while the guy is inside cleaning
being hundreds of feet away from any machine can be dangerous, and I would say about 99% of carpet cleaning fires are carelessness
