Better than last year!

Better than last year!
Although we have 18" of white stuff outside an it's only 11 degrees outside I am still busier than last year. Not crazy busy but I do have work scheduled which is a great improvement. Went gangbusters from spring to Christmas, it's taken a month to recover- mentally- was burned out. Like a squirrel saving nuts for winter I overworked myself in order to not sweat it out again as my phone did not ring for 2-3 weeks straight last winter. That has never happened in 30 years of business. Then again it has never been 5 degrees and less for 2-3 weeks straight either. Grateful to have my own business and have work.
Re: Better than last year!
Funny you mentioned that, it has been busier down here too despite the temps. When it was warmer this winter, the phone didn't ring, but once it hit negative digits, everyone wants me to clean.
I have dyslexic customers.

It's tough for me to work in these conditions, I hate being cold, don't know how you do it in the Midwest.
Re: Better than last year!
I was down year over year for December and now January. Its funny when Im busting my ass in the busy season I cant wait for the slow months and when it slows down I wish I had more scheduled. Im glad you guys are busy, if we had your weather here my phone would never ring. I did get a call yesterday... It was to cancellation

Not busy, just have some work scheduled. big improvement.
Re: Better than last year!
I agree, not really "busy", but a few jobs scattered over the week is better than most years at this time.
Re: Better than last year!
I bust my hump during the warm months, so I don't have to go out when its cold; if I don't want to.
For me; under 25° , the equipment is out of commission"wink, wink".
Hey, I will jump into action for my regulars.

You sound like me- the machine doesn't run well when it's this cold, wink , wink.
Re: Better than last year!
So that is why they always ask me if carpets can be cleaned below freezing...they spoke to another cleaner first.
I will clean down to the teens, but I don't "run very well" when it is colder than that and will avoid those jobs.

Man, I know how you feel.....so ready for Spring.
You have little choice in my opinion. Sure you can clean at the temperature, but why risk damaging the equipment....same goes for the tm.
