One of my local competitors (FloorGuy aka Doug Payne) called me a while back and said he needed help moving a machine he just bought. His customer has had it sitting in her garage for over 10 years. Her husband used to clean carpets but passed away years ago. So we dug out the machine and it was an old Judson. After talking with Les he told us it was built in 1969 and was the only year that he did not use stainless. Also the machine is all white and was made for Sears.

That is a very cool find. Surprised Les didn't offer to buy it for the museum.

We pulled the carb apart and cleaned the junk in the bowl out, put on a fuel pump, battery and a few squirts of starting fluid and it did start. I was pretty amazed on how easy it started. It has an 18hp briggs motor on it.

It sounds pretty quite too. How does the inside of the tank look? Any rusting pitting etc

It was rusted and there are some holes that have rusted thru the tank. over all it is an really good shape. I will have to have doug post a picture of the hose reel and the vac hose that came with it.

It did sound pretty low noise...looks like a robust exhaust to it.

A machine that stills fires up after 46 years is pretty darn good and looks like a really cool resto project.

That's the plan. Restore it and mount it into a 1977 Dodge Tradesman van, get a flat-top, find leisure suit, and re-brand yourself to "That 70's Cleaner"

That would trump any crappy local advertised cleaner by miles...especially if you go after the retirement homes. Very Happy

Whats amazing is that the machine was found on the western side of the US you usually see them in the south. A second look at the video you see a line of rust at the bottom probably from the water just sitting there for years

Maybe paint a unicorn on the side or airbrush the band members of the "Eagles"....either way, you would rule the region. Cleaners would bow down as you drove by.

So carpet cleaning is just your disguise by day. You are really a super hero at night.....well, super husband anyway.

Looks like you chose the better project to work on, that tnt has waited a long time and can wait some more.
