A guy seen my van lettering when I did that strip n wax/carpet job a couple weeks ago and asked if I could bid one for him....I think they see the Carpet and "Tile" cleaning and not understand its Tile and Grout type tile BUT im okay with it lately. This job is $2800 and will take me a day....I wax new tile wipe down some cabinets and do some easy windows (10).....then just vac and maybe rinse carpet from drywall dust. I figured 8 hrs with two workers....Tops.

I found a nice niche too.

Drywall dust?

Make certain the hvac is turned off....you don't want to pay for that mistake.

Milspec...its new construction and its fairly clean but they dont want any dust to get into the system AND they have a kitchen they want to keep spotless.....its all pretty easy stuff. Thanks for the thought though.

The big thing on this job is who Im doing it for.

LOL...Mo was waiting..... I meant its only $2.80.

That certainly makes a pretty ticket for a day's work. How much do you think will you net of that?

Well....I own my equipment and dont need to rent anything...I have over half the material left over from two other jobs....basically driving about 30 minutes away and having my labor for the day (my son) I dont see it costing me anything over $500....and thats real heavy in favor of cost. Also, not factoring in overhead like insurance and equipment wear n tear etc. but I bet the $500 covers it.

When I quoted he said $2800? and that does everthing?...he said he liked the price and would get with me...Im sure I got it.

You asked how much I would net off that....should I factor in my wife? lol Our trip to Spain and Italy next summer is just about paid for...I need her passport (my son and I have ours) then I have about $1200 balance on the $18k trip to go....this will complete that and pay off my sons $2000trumpet .....sounds funny but once that happens I owe not one penny to any person or company....Its been a goal for me to hit. Im not rich...just debt free. Wink

I love the debt-free life, been there for awhile myself, but my cash flow leaves me taking trips to the Paris Wisconsin instead of Paris France.

I like your results a whole lot better. Sad

Well...its comes only after a lot of work and not doing things many have been doing over the years, as im sure you know....plus I invested pretty good. The only way to enjoy a nice retirement is to not owe. I still have to put my son through college....he understands he needs to help...his help would be Scholarships or work while in school...he is like me and choosing to do both...Scholarships to help AND work for him to have a little extra....if he goes to Med School I wont want him to work on anything but school and I will provide...Ive been saving for that as well.

Milspec....Im glad to hear it....Im teaching my son to NOT be dependant of anyone, especially the government. He understands what many adults do not. He is still trying to figure out how to recover from the steak dinner we had at his expense. lol

Great, so now he will become a vegetarian too. Razz

Sounds like he picked his parents wisely and I applaud the working through school plan.

When I went through college, nobody could afford a car...hell we could barely afford to eat. Now the parking lots are full of new cars and some students are even buying houses with those student loans.

I worked 2 jobs back then and although it did take me longer to graduate as a result, it was still to my advantage not having any loans to deal with afterwards.

Besides, you have to learn how to manage your time to survive medical school.

After that steak deal he may become vegetarian. He's a really good kid...God blessed me. He has this desire to be a young Dr.

I hope he has a long career and doesn't get disappointed in the profession.

I knew a biochemist that went off to graduate studies and invented a method to eradicate all known viruses from blood using light photons. She still holds the patent, but the company that funded the research controls it and has never done a damn thing with it.....been over 15 years now.

I can see some serious frustration in that line of work.
