Bet I'm Having More Fun Today Than You Are
Water pump went out this morning and I get to do my least favorite thing....pull wrenches. At least it gives me a chance to de-grease and clean up the engine.

At least you go to your local auto parts store to pick it up. Have you checedk out the prices at Rock Auto .com they're pretty darn good.
PS. I fixed your facebook link on your profile

Had to order it out of Florida. It was the closest one.
Re: Bet I'm Having More Fun Today Than You Are
Degrease the motor the easy way..."oven off" spray or simple grean and elbow grease. Either one works really well.

What kind of engine is that?

Great engines Kubota. My machine runs off a kubota as well.
How many hours have you got on it?

My first kubota was just starting to blow a bit of smoke by then. Replaced it at about 8500 hours.
Was nothing to much wrong with it just the smoke and l was building new van so decided to replace motor.
Second kubota up to about 4500 hours and going strong.

Re: Bet I'm Having More Fun Today Than You Are
Got it from a Kubota dealer in Melbourne Australia.
Mine runs on LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) about 1/3 the price of petrol - Gas to you guys.

Re: Bet I'm Having More Fun Today Than You Are
While I'm waiting on the water pump I pulled off the intake port to the blower and drilled and tapped a port for lubing the blower and degreased the front of the engine. Was scared to use oven cleaner ( although I know it works well but was scared of the caustic soda against the aluminum parts and opted for brake parts cleaner spray and wiped with a rag). Hope the parts arrive tomorrow.
Re: Bet I'm Having More Fun Today Than You Are
Update...after replacing the water pump the motor ran good...no water in the oil...no missing....no water out of the exhaust.... but, after hooking the vacuum hose to the recovery tank it would fall on it's face. Did a compression check and the heat destroyed the motor. The compression should of been 185 per cylinder but was 80 all of the way down to 70.
Spent some money and bought a rebuilt engine with a warranty.

I also added a Murphy Swichguage so this won't happen again. You set the temp. at what temp you want the machine to shut down.

Damn that's a bummer, Larry, sorry to hear it.
Looks like you got a nice looking used replacement though, you mind telling us where you got it from and the cost?

Shoot, just thought of something you're not going to be happy to hear, but maybe you can return that one?!
Eddie our resident mechanic, if I'm not mistaken has a used 3 cyl Kabota he'd like to get rid off........I think that's what he told me about a week ago when I was talking to him?

Re: Bet I'm Having More Fun Today Than You Are
That does suck Larry but at least you have a rebuilt machine that will give you 1000's of hours of service those. Those Kabota engines run for ever.
My little E150 can barely handle a 400 Lb ETM. I need to upgrade my shocks and tires I can tell the van leans to one side.
Thanks for posting those pics.

Re: Bet I'm Having More Fun Today Than You Are
There is something about new engines that make me smile. The cost will fade away as you enjoy the new power and performance for the next 5,000 hours of hard work.
You could look into rebuilidng the old engine, selling it off, and recovering some of that cost.

Re: Bet I'm Having More Fun Today Than You Are
I'm probably going to do that Milspec and have a back-up ready when needed since you have to order parts and wait on them to come in.
