I get a call from the wrestling coach....they have new wrestling mats and when a few boys were wrestling and goofing around after getting new maroon t-shirts they transfered the dye through sweat onto the mats.....they tried everything from bleach, goof off, Naptha, simple green, ets. I went by to see if something I had on the truck would let me transfer color and I couldnt even get color at all. What are your thoughts to get this out?....Im more or less donating some time for the school thats on a tight budget anyway. Vinegar...nope.....he called and tried it and said to take it off the list...I hate to go too strong for fear of hurting the mats.

What are the mats made of? Is it possible to apply steam heat as an accelerator? Try H2O2 and sudsy ammonia with the steam. Make sure there's good of ventilation. I use that combination on really stubborn stains. I've actually used straight 35% H2O2 and steam.

Guess I wasn't looking at the question. Vinyl, Duh! A wallpaper steamer could be used.

Since is probably a synthetic dye. I would rinse the crap that's in there apply a reducer and see if get transfer. If I get transfer I would apply steam to speed up the process. If you screw it up turn the mat over and call it good Very Happy

You sure they're aren't rubber?

Seems more likely rubber would absorb the dye than Vinyl, I would think, no?

Ammonia and Peroxide.....then run!

Those mats are actually pretty tough to remove stains from. I was hired by the local high school a few years ago to clean 55 wrestling mats that had mold on them from storage.

Seemed simple enough, but no dice. Those stains were permanent.

Yeah I also think it might be rubber, vinyl usually doesn't absorb stains.
