Thrashed wool. Empty Thrashed wool.

I went to customer's house and she has 8 dining chairs with bottom seat and middle of the back covered with wool fabrics as well, pretty trashed, nice home and nice areas, nice customer as well, told her that I can clean one chair first to make sure she knows what to expect, she said just clean them all, I'm sure it would be better than they are now, I cleaned the worst one and although it got cleaner, some spots didn't budge, showed her the chair and she's okay with it and told me to clean the rest, I cleaned the rest and when I was almost done, I looked at a couple of chairs that got water marks and realized what happened, they were used as outdoor dining chairs by previous owner, asked the lady, she said she bought them at flea market for $ 700 ( set of 8 chairs ), she's not sure where they came from, I showed her the ones with water marks the wood frames are a lot more faded than the ones without, is there anything that can get water marks out of wool ? Also what products do you guys use on wool when the condition is trashed ?

Water marks are often permanent in my experiences.

I use a wool-safe cleaner and then spot with Pro's Choice Stain Magic for wool. Sometimes a trashed wool will respond to an enzyme wash as well, but I have been using good 'ol Soils and Oils mostly for wool....that is what it was designed for.

Do you use SOO full strength on spots only ? If you dilute it what's the dilution ratio ?

General clean with Soil and Oils at standard dilution and spot with the Stain Magic for wool.

That Stain Magic is pretty pricey, so charge accordingly, but that S/O will handle a pretty badly soiled wool with some agitation.

1st off I hate this type of situations, but like you DP, I usually tell the customer I'll clean one, see how it looks and then go from there.

And Rob hit nail on the head, I totally agree with him.

Just remember, a lot of times those stains are a lot less noticeable or not noticeable at all once it's dry.

I use white vinegar mixed about 1/4 cup to quart of water....after a low PH cleaning I spray yellowed areas and use the sun and fan to dry and bleach as fast as possible.

After misting the yellow areas I blot off excess moisture and try to dry fast....the sun is the best tool in this scenario. I just did some white wool dinning chairs too and had a perfect day for it. They came out nice...I didnt have yellow stains but didnt leave any either. This is what I usually do.

Brave man to use bleach on wool.....don't try that at home unless you have Devon's skill-set gang as bleach will dissolve wool.

I love the decision to let the sun to brighten and dry like that. UV light increases the effect of things like Stain Magic to make it even more effective.

I dont use bleach...I use the sun to bleach. I may not have been real clear. Vinegar in the sun.

Usually with such a low PH I make sure to get a little dwell and a moderate scrub before extraction. I always do the material evenly and never just spots...ever. Treat it as a whole then concentrate on the area of trouble.

I did fail at reading today.....I see that you were using the UV rays to "bleach" instead of the actual product of "bleach".

Sorry for the confusion..... Crying
