Having a super busy fall this year, summer was good but not as busy as expected and now were suddenly getting slammed.
Taking pics with the note 5 now, heres some jobs from this week
Dirty Poly
furniture no pre spray
dirty nylon
nasty living room, you can see the white spot where the couch was.. lots of colored stains and food spills

Very nice work there, sir....rotaries rule.
Summer's end was good for me, but the wheels fell off after the deer strike and ended with the worst October on record.
At least both trucks are officially ready to work, so I will hustling hard for the next 7 days to make up some ground before the snow arrives.

Re: Busy Fall (pics)
Nice pic D. Do you groom the swirls out of the carpet? Any problems with carpet seams with RE.
We got slammed with rain in September so I ended below YOY for that month but November has gotten off with a good start.
Hey D did you ever send a second mailer to your list? You still getting biz from the first mailer?

Both of those jobs had really bright rooms with sun coming in so the before pics just dont look nearly as filthy as it was in person, just a lot of light reflecting off the carpet... but they were both really nasty.
We never rake Mo and only get very positive feedback about the pattern the 360 leaves, for some reason the property managers and real estate people love it.
Seams are always a concern with anything mechanical, crb, orbiter, 360, or 175.. just have to be careful but its not a concern about 90% of the time.
That same house in the last pics had a few rooms of 70s tiger stripe carpet which I wanded because it was so old it could have just fallen apart and seams were showing.
Have you never ran a 360 or other rotary Mo?
Re: Busy Fall (pics)
I have never run one AC. The closets I got was a demo at ICE and I really liked the 360i. I think it might be the way t go for an old gizzard with arthritic shoulder and chronic stiff neck

I might sell mine for a good price, let me know if you're interested I can probably bring it to Vegas in January That will fund the trip, buy dinner for all the regulars here and some drinks ;-)
Great pics AC !! I haven't gotten my 360i out of the van for a good week or so and today it got out in 3 jobs, you just never know when you need them !

Oh yeah we're really busy too, seems like after quarterly tax payments are made, we still need to pay more to uncle Sam next year
Next week we got about 12 jobs lined up already and one of them is 2100 sq ft residential clean and scotchgard, so it is a little scary being this busy and a little short handed.

Re: Busy Fall (pics)
are you really going to encap poo Mo? plz dont
you know I always put down the 360 for months at a time and get really used to the wand and the speed of it..
then Ill randomly pull out the 360 on a job and it just makes me feel like, why not always use this thing... makes the job so easy and zero physical effort but a tad slower.
Its about 35lbs, I can curl it with 1 hand 10 times easily lol
right now I am really liking it because its allowing me to use about 1/4 as much pre spray to get those results so the carpet is getting flushed out better and drying very fast about 2hrs
I could probably bring a fan and promote dry when we leave if I keep doing it this way
Very likely I will either buy the 15in head kit for it ($500) or I will trade it in for a new 360XL. The kit gets you 15in, but with teflon vac slots (holed and slotted)
the actual 360XL has the metal L shaped shoes
Ive never used a 360 with these vac slots ^^^^^
but I know these ones ^^^^ pick up about 5lbs of shed and crap on every job, even when u pre vac

Oh my, I can't believe this fall man, Thanksgiving is the day after tomorrow and tomorrow I still have 5 good size jobs to do, I think I'm going to take the whole weekend off if I can, started scheduling for next week ( customers requests ), seems like it's going to be a busy December.
How are you guys doing ?

Re: Busy Fall (pics)
That's great Dp, keep racking them up!
It has been dead over here despite a couple of commercial breaks. I have about 6 hours of cleaning to do tomorrow, but nothing scheduled after that until Sunday night.....and nothing booked for next week at all.
Normally, things are pretty strong this month, but something went wrong this year. The other cleaner in my neighborhood is reporting the same and is considering retirement it is so slow.
Weather is supposed to change Thursday and that might be the end of the above freezing temperatures for this Winter, so unless some flood work rolls around, it will be down to just my base of commercial work to keep me going.
I think November is going to end as a weak month and December-Jan-Feb-March just might be deader than in years past.

Re: Busy Fall (pics)
Record November here due to some high ticket jobs and sunny skys. Gonna go bust out three jobs today and I'm done till next week. As far as December, that month has always been the slowest for me. I have a vasectomy appointment next Friday. Ouch!!
Re: Busy Fall (pics)
pretty strong november but check our expense list
96 express transmission - $3720
express fuel injection manifold - $1400
06 w3500 - injector replacement, re programming, and valve adjust $4200 and change
plus 4 rear tires $980
EGR down tube replacement $480
ouch! lol good thing those trucks are staying busy and they prob wont need anything like this for another 80-100k miles
almost was going to look for something other than express but its just now at 80,000 original miles been running it since 50k.. anything around 7k even online has about 150k on it plus this already has everything installed with nice bed liner and fuel tap etc.
so we decided spending the money on it was the right choice

Re: Busy Fall (pics)
I am right there with you AC, did the intake job and new top end in the Spring. Around here, it will cost you $14k for a 1-ton van with 150,000 miles on the ticker.
I just can't convince myself that it would be that much of an upgrade.

Re: Busy Fall (pics)
Rob, I would love to run with you for about a week. I suspect your days are a lot like a good friend of mine. No matter what he does It goes south...I always thought he was just doing things weird, then I went working with him to show him the decisions that made the problem....I was wrong! Murphy lives with this guy. First twenty minutes with him he got a no seatbelt ticket AND he had it on!...took it off when pulled over, the cop said to me he didnt appreciate me lieing and gave me the eye. First job a guy backed into his truck and they blamed him for parking in a no parking spot....workers are exempt at times. sheeesh!

Re: Busy Fall (pics)
Sometimes my life comes with nothing but bad luck. I am actually very conservative in my decisions and plan everything out in finite detail at the start of the day.....it just never follows the script.
I should move to the beach and be like Rainbow. That way, even when everything goes wrong during the day, I still get to have a drink and a steak at the beach in the evening......sounds like a nice balance.

Re: Busy Fall (pics)
maybe just try not planning as much and just roll with it.
It does seem the extreme weather plays a big part in most of your problems
ya just part of business Devon... that old express is a money maker so it doesnt hurt too bad but its hard to spend that much $$ on a 1996.
had to question what else might fail just due to age and not miles. Have pretty much done everything to that van so it shouldnt have any issues for a least a few years and then well prob move to another box truck
my guy really doesnt like how packed that thing is, its not an extended so everything fits fine just really tight.

Re: Busy Fall (pics)
I would love to run a little less rigid AC, I really would. I just have a very limited time frame to get things done with the day job (60 hrs per week), so every minute is pretty calculated.
This is one of the reasons that I will be giving up one of these things in the Spring. I am still not completely certain which one will win, it was 90% in favor of dumping the day job, but this extreme slow down in jobs and issues with the ones I do have are making me wonder.

Re: Busy Fall (pics)
Oh I thought you had already moved to cleaning full time.
60hrs a week is already a lot man, lack of sleep and over working is really bad for your heart and overall health... which is more important..

Re: Busy Fall (pics)
AC has a point Rob. slow down a little. Run the carpet gig full time...typically when it slows and being ran full time its welcomed for repairs and maintenance etc....its a good time to plan a vacation and just do the things you need to do outside of work....with that being said, I suspect you will be busier than you think dedicating full time to Carpet Co. You are slower being part time then you would be being full time.
