Re: Should I Build it?
I'll take it. I believe Andy was looking for a cat pump.Fuzzsucker wrote:Thats why im considering buying that old tnt. I really just want it for a project machine. The motor and blower I dont even want. To small for my tastes. However that SS tank/frame is an item worth having around.
Actually that gives me an idea. Hey mo you want to buy a used 18hp b&s off that unit?
Re: Should I Build it?
Mo wrote:I can see why you went with that 25 HP Davey. It's is a better value and it includes the wiring harness extension, switch, and muffler at $1767.00. You have any video of the engine installed and running?
Yes, I went with 25hp for a couple reasons, not much cost difference, and because I'll have enough hp to upgrade to lager blower down the road.
I'm wondering how you came up with that price?..............Did OPE give you that price of $1767 biased on what I purchased?
The cost for the CH730-3208 was $1,540.00, plus 248612S exhaust $106.32......then I added the Kohler key switch and harness extension loom for ease of install, my original plan was to use my existing key switch and make my own loom, but decided to spend the extra $68.38 to make the install easier, although not totally necessary.
So the total for everything I bought with free shipping was $1,714.73. So that's why I wonder where the price of $1767 came from?
Unfortunately or fortunately I've been too busy to even begin the install or begin the machine restoration I have planned, so no I don't have any installed/running vid/pics yet. It's going to take some time and fabrication going from my current Onan to the Kohler, so I need to wait till after xmas prob to really begin.
You know I think for a new build like yours Mo, you should be able to find a less expensive spec engine to use since matching up to an existing eng like mine was important to me.
I think if you're not too worried about shaft size, eng controls on eng or remote, air filter config. and stuff like that, then you should be able to find a cheaper spec eng that will work........they have hundreds of them, you just need to figure out the specs are important to you and find the lowest cost one with them.
Oh and also, you guys talking about failure or this build not working lol........
If you're thinking it's not going to work or going to fail it probably will, if you think/plan to make it work and are determined to make it work it will...........I say put that negative BS/failing thought out of you head, and make the damn thing work!!

Re: Should I Build it?
Thanks Davey I needed that kick in the ass. My main concern was spending to much money to get this done. Don't laugh but I have a budget of 3k. The extra 48.00 on the quote was for residential shipping

I understand, that's why I wasn't going to spend the extra money on the stuff I did.
So sticking to you budget, why not have it shipped to commercial addy?,,,,,,you cant tell me no one you know works at a place with a comm address, that would accept the delivery?!

Re: Should I Build it?
I've been doing some research into stainless steel prices. Really not that expensive. For enough to make a judson style tank would be around 1500. From my guesstimates anyway. The judson engineering is the hard part.
Re: Should I Build it?
Mo, are you still working on this?
I was wondering because I'm in the middle of mine now, and thought of you........hmm maybe I should start a thread on mine!

Re: Should I Build it?
Ok I have no way to evidence but I have done some searching have that there are some fuel tanks that look a lot like the Judson tank just need the clean out holes cut and caps installed. Install the face panel and mounting plates for motor blower pump. If interested when I get a chance I'll try and find it again.
I say this because step back and look at the Judson. Now take every thing off down to just the square tank. The tube where the blower connects is the filler neck and it is threaded. The drain on the bottom would be in the same place. A good fuel tank would have a baffle inside to control the liquid inside just like the Judson but Judson uses the baffle to support the tank top that the blower and other assy. are mounted as I said no proof. But just a thought.

Do it Davey this project is on hold for now.
Yeah check it out Ace. I think Fuzzsucker was looking for just the tank but someone else might be interested to.
I need a used engine

Re: Should I Build it?
So a couple of days ago I finally found a used Kohler for the project and made an appointment to meet with the guy. Later that day I'm surfing the net and find a deal on a truckmount that I simple was not able to pass up. I couldn't give them my money fast enough. Hopefully I didn't get ripped off It was out of a janitorial supply house on the east coast.
Don't need that waste tank anymore ACE.

Re: Should I Build it?
Ok Mo
Sorry I couldn't find the other one for you.
Glad to hear you found one that will work.
I had even talked to Ryan about if you took a 100 gal propane tank laying down if it could be modified to work when I get time I'll draw up my ideas and see what you guys think.

What kind of machine did you find Mo? Any pictures?
Re: Should I Build it?
You know what freaking me out is that they are saying they shipped it out bu FedEx has no record of ever picking it up. Hopefully its not one of those "If it to god to be true it probably isn't" scenarios
