Re: 4 Lessons for Service Startups
I remember back in the day when JOE POLISH was the favorite flavor to make money. Now soft wear companies show us how to. My only thought that comes to mind is have they ever been in the trenches.

Re: 4 Lessons for Service Startups
Hi Peter, I wrote this blog post. I have not "been in the trenches," but the blog post is not about me at all. I interviewed our pro (the one in the video) who told me the biggest lessons he has learned since starting his business.
The blog post is not from my perspective, it is from his. It is meant to help show other service pros the lessons they can learn from someone who has started and grown a carpet cleaning business.
At HouseCall Pro, we have plenty of awesome, experienced service pros as our customers who share their wisdom with us. Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Re: 4 Lessons for Service Startups
I cant load the video for some reason in the format its in but... I can tell you one thing that guy knows just from the pic.. Columbia, north face, marmot, arcteryx etc are all great brands to put your logo on.
Its a small detail but the more yuppie you can look the better when your in someones home around their valuables.
people make snap judgments, its in our nature and the more you can relate to them the better

Is that why they like me? I always thought I was cool.....damn.
It is also very true and why I will not hire employees with tattoos on their face, neck or covering most of their forearms. Sorry guys, but it doesn't work in a service business like this.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention that the link was broken! I've now embedded the video so you can watch it right on here.
If you want to read the blog post in full, please click here!
Interesting point about aligning your brand with trusted brands like Columbia, etc.! That makes total sense. Presenting a squeaky clean image is definitely ideal when customers hire you to make their home squeaky clean as well
