I have to put on my tap shoes Monday to clean a business chair for the CEO in order to get the job.  I mentioned these chairs awhile back, simple stacking chairs with light khaki colored backs.  They paid a fortune for these chairs (from Holland or somewhere) for some dumb reason, but that works in my favor.  They claim it cost over $150 per chair plus shipping....they look like a $40 chair to me that you can find at Office Depot.

There are 85 of them and if the audition goes well, I stand to make a good deal on this job unless there is something that I am missing.

Looks easy enough.

Vinyl seats and some fabric/lycra back?

That's it.....fabric feels like a nylon. Why they paid so much for these chairs is way beyond me, but cleaning them scares them for some reason.

Chair cleaning audition Empty Re: Chair cleaning audition

Well, the audition was interesting.

They sent me to a maint. building and I cleaned a chair on the loading dock in front of an audience of maitenance, cleaning staff, and managers. It was rather creepy, but they were all very interested.

This was also the first time that any of them had seen the inside of my van. They though I was going to pull some heavy machine out of the van so they chose the dock to help me unload. Laughing

I think the Butler was more interesting to all the maint. staff as they asked a dozen questions while I set-up to clean.

Cleaning was easy enough. I chose to go with a bucket of upholstery shampoo, soft brush (actually a horse brush I buy at the local Agriculture store which has the same bristles as the carpet brush on my cyclo-polisher), some terry towels, and the sapphire tool.

It only took about 3 minutes, but I went ahead and buffed it with the towels and took some vinyl cleaner to the seat bottoms.

End result.....they accepted my bid and I will be cleaning them later this week. Peace
