Slow times

Post by milspec6 on Sat Feb 11, 2017 6:14 pm

I spent the day having lunch with a few fellow cleaners in this area. I've known and worked with these guys for over 10 years and nobody is getting work. Out of the 5, 2 are thinking about shutting it down and looking for traditional jobs again.

I thought it was only slow for me, but the pain is everywhere in this area. I even saw a couple of large franchises down-sizing their fleets in the Omaha area. It amazes me how one area can prosper while others dwindle this time of year, but as the saying goes....misery loves company so I don't feel so bad now.

We had another upper 40's day and it sure feels like Spring is right around the corner. Kids are starting to race each other on the streets and light jackets are everywhere. I think we may have an early Spring after-all and I am certainly looking forward to what that can mean to this business.

Sounds like opportunity knocking when spring hits and people start calling their cleaners only to find out they're guy is out of biz.

I don't think the cold spell is gone yet

I am thinking the same thing about the room for new growth....also expecting a few more really cold days yet ahead. We have experienced snow as late as May before....never know when Spring will take hold around here.

Wow, upper 40s and you guys are wearing light jackets ? Damn, we sure live in different regions, in here anything under 60s you'll see people with thick jackets and scarfs, lol.
Usually when we get a terrible month here, we're going to have a good month following but then again we are going through unusual year, so I'm not expecting much, that's why I always save during busy times for such a time like this.
I think it will pick up soon and by next year, I think we will have a busier than normal winter months due to taxes being lowered ( not yet but it will be ).

That will be my biggest goal this year....packing it away for winter. I don't want to see another of these long slow periods without a mattress stuffed with bills. Money Pile
