Wand Bypass or Bypass on Hose?
I would like to have some sort of bypass I can open to get water hot and also be able to crack to keep water flowing when I need to set the wand down for a couple min.
I can't say I'm a big fan of having the bypass contraption on the wand though................
But last time I talked to Joe I thought he mentioned something maybe he came up with and one of his customers had improved on that was an in-hose type bypass?
Does anyone know about that, is it something Joe sells, or I need to make?
Anyone with pics or any knowledge of this??

Davey, This is what I have done or should say I use this when it is very cold outside.
Re: Wand Bypass or Bypass on Hose?
The pictures I've seen of them is a fitting that comes off of the valve with a valve and a small line that goes to the tube of the wand about the size of a brake line. You would have to drill a hole in the tube of the wand and weld the line in there. I know Ben at Amtex does this.

Yea that's what I've seen too, although very convenient I don't care for the extra stuff on the wand to make that work.
That's why the inline one seemed interesting, and also could be used with tools other than your wand.
I wish Joe was around to chime in and explain the deal he mentioned.

Re: Wand Bypass or Bypass on Hose?
I used to do what Tim did when I had a heat exchanger. I have a diesel fired burner now and don't worry about it. Good luck and maybe Joe will have your answer.
Re: Wand Bypass or Bypass on Hose?
Maybe just use a solution line splitter and feed the released water back into the hose cuff via a fitting? Used to run one like that before all the high flow wands...now I just try to keep the wands active.

Yea I believe is was something like that Joe was talking 'bout......I emailed him to see if he would shed some light on this.

Re: Wand Bypass or Bypass on Hose?
just buy a brass tee that has two female quick connects (one for solution hose and the other for bypass hose) from a supplier or make one yourself and snap into your solution hose connection on the machine. then make/get a 3-5ft solution hose and have it made with a male quick connect on one end and ball valve on the other end. Done.
Nice to have to cool down your machine after each job especially for HX'r and also to refill prespray container and rinse off your wand head after each job, etc. Nice to have for all sorts of uses.

Re: Wand Bypass or Bypass on Hose?
Raffy, I think what Davey meant was a bypass system that's close to his wand where he can turn on and off right there and then without having to go back to the van to turn it on and off.
I would just have a 6 inch hose with a male qd and ball valve on one end and leave the other end open, when you want to bypass the water, stick the open end hose in the vac hose and open the valve to bypass the hot water while you move the furnitures and such, like Joe said, be careful with kids around :-)

Re: Wand Bypass or Bypass on Hose?
I'm what Joe blow would call..."King of ByPass" all eleven of my wands have bypasses built into them. Including my PMF upholstery/stair tool, 30" swivel head stair tool...shucks I even have a 30" straight stair tool that has the head welds 90 degree to get under beds, this also has a built in bypass. My latest wands the Mach 12 and the Mach 15 also have built in bypasses.
You can install passes on any wand, however it takes a little doing with the right tools cause you gotta cut, drill holes and weld the wand. the easiest is just add a wash downer along the solution hose.

Re: Wand Bypass or Bypass on Hose?
Correct.
At the different times of purchasing the wands, I did not know about the downer.
The extra $50 for the bypass install from the factory, I was ok with it. The good thing about the bypass on the wand is that it does not create a liability. Just turn the knob and close back up. The way my machine produces lava hot water, the bypass is good thing.
Thanks again Joe.
BTW all 9 of your nephews and nieces say hello. they are waiting for your Christmas gift in the mail.
