Oil doesn't drip down to fill the filter?

Good advice Ken! I've been doing that for many years ever since a friend of mine who was a high-performance auto technician (mechanic aka... grease monkey) recommended that step everytime the oil filter is changed.

Lol. Just want you to think outside the box. But I really have worked on equip. that the filter was screwed down talk about a EPA head ache. But here's what you do apply oil to the filter seal then install filter. Now with oil in the engine turn the engine over a few times remember there's oil in the oil pump and bearings of the motor still, most units have a oil pressure switch not a low oil switch. If you have low oil pressure the motor should not start until you have oil pressure thus the filter is full. The oil pump didn't know the filter was upside down as long as it doesn't leak.
Just a brain teaser to get you thinking lol.

In addition to lubing the seal with some fresh oil, don't forget to make sure that the filter boss is clean and doesn't have a rubber seal stuck to it from the previous filter.

Sounds funny, but we used to find that event many times in the family shop. Customers would fail to lube the seal and it would stick to the filter boss. Then, when they change the filter, the seal gets left behind. Add a new filter and seal and it leaks all over the place.
