Re: Best clean process..
I am sure I will always bust out the 175 for cgd and some single story homes it's just apts and multi level homes that it's gonna end up staying in the van.

Re: Best clean process..
I actually find the act of wanding harder on the knees than the carrying of heavy equipment up the stairs. It is that repetitive back and forth motion that wears mine down more than that dozen stairs with a 75 pound machine.
The key I guess is to find a machine that is more balanced. Carrying the rx-20 over my shoulders like a 50 cal machine gun looks strange, but easier on my body and the Hoss feels well centered when carrying it.

Re: Best clean process..
Haven't used a CRB, but haved used an RX20 for years. We still run a 175 prior to the RX20 if it is really nasty (like an exit from a kitchen in a restaurant that looks like asphalt) and last year I picked up a couple of rotovac 360i's for residential. We use an RX20 on nasty rentals
Re: Best clean process..
Great post guys as i am considering a CRB machine. Time to pull the trigger. Who can suggest best place to get one at best price, think i'll go for a 15 or 17inch.

Re: Best clean process..
There always seems to be crb's for sale on craigslist for a decent price. You can also go to ebay and you will find that Marcus of "Strong Dry" is selling off his old stock of 15 inchers on there for about $1200. They are new in box, just older models before they became called "Strong Dry".
Also, don't forget to try Joe as well...he can get you any part you may need for the "Strong Dry" models.

Re: Best clean process..
AC I have the 3 different sets and for polyester carpet the black from strong I found the best option is the tile and grout brushes so are more aggressive.

Ya call Joe or look else where, I called Marcus and he wanted wayyyyyy to much for a highly used couple that he had.
I am still being a penny pincher and haven't gotten one yet. I told myself 2 months straight of being a week out on the schedule or no more new tools .

Re: Best clean process..
I've always leaned more toward the chemistry side rather than the equipment side. It's kinda like using an axe. Two guys with the same type axe chopping different sides of the same tree. Difference is that one guy spent the time to sharpen his axe so he cuts more and faster.
Chemistry sharpens our tools.
The only piece of equipment mentioned that I don't ever use is a 175. I don't even use one on VCT any longer. It's just too limited imo.

I use my CRB on every job. It's a great tool!
I'm going to buy another one so I can "frankenstein" my current one. I'm gonna try and adapt a vacuum port to it.

is a wall steamer that I use instead of a iron it work better for me, I've been using it for a few years now.
for tile & grout I used powermax from cobbs and Zep industrial purple
Re: Best clean process..
That Zep purple is some pretty harsh stuff.

Fuzzsucker wrote:We pre vac for two hours, prespay, crb, rotovac, edge, then bonnet with a trinity op to dry, then crb the stain guard in, then we bring in two dehus and twelve fans. All for the low price of $300 a room.
I've never seen the need to go threw all that noise, just to charge $300 a room. ......the key is you don't say "it's $300 a room", just give the quote for full service, and let the customer decide their price!

Re: Best clean process..
I would have to say rotary extraction, although most cases the wand is best as 95% of the time a wand does a great job in faster time.

Without a doubt, you are correct.
My first year working for Phil, we only had wands and a deck broom, but we felt that we had good results.
When I went to work for Jeff in another state, he introduced me to a nice 175 machine...now I was getting somewhere.
Then I moved up to my first rx-20 and the world shifted when cleaning the really soiled carpets.
Now I also use the Hoss on residentials along with a good CRB machine and I can't believe the difference...and ease.
Like the man said, the wand is the tool for speed and effectiveness when cleaning the light to medium soil loads, but that rotary tool is a big leap for any cleaner faced with heavy soil loads. You don't have to have one, but life is a whole lot easier when you do.
Just look at all those great before / after pictures on this site...or any site...and you will see that a rotary extractor was the weapon of choice in most of the examples. That should tell us all something, don't you think?
Re: Best clean process..
The big question is "Is the price for a rotary extractor worth it to get better results in less time on that 5% of jobs.
I had a 360i but got rid of it. Now Im ordering an encap scrubber that will double as a prespray agitator for those 5%ers. Makes more sense imho.
