Building a Website
I started practicing on a free website trying to learn how to build one . I'm up for suggestions and comments .I'm aware that some of these pages aren't complete but I just wanted some input on content before I built the real site .

Re: Building a Website
I don't know Larry the color white seems to be to prominent in the site. The background, sofa and rug are all white. Maybe you can incorporate your company colors and logo into the site, Unless those are you colors then never mind:D

Would you mind providing info as you go along, for this process of building site?
I'm in the same boat. I desperately need to get some kind out site up!! I bought a domain name about two years ago, and still don't have any website at all up yet.....because I get overwhelmed and confused lol every time I attempt to start working on it.
Any help/info you can provide would be much appreciated! :albino:

Re: Building a Website
Weebly has a drag and drop type of website and you can import your domain name. I too just purchased a domain name but wanted to try and construct a free site first just to get the feel of it . Jump in and get your feet wet . You may be surprised what you can do . As far as help I don't really have any experience but will be willing to share in anyway I can . I'll keep you posted on progress .
Re: Building a Website
When you go to build you permanent site, I would suggest installing Wordpress. If you can use Word, to make documents, you can use Wordpress. MANY videos out there how to build a website with WP.
All you need is hosting and your choice of Template.
For less than $100 (including hosting, template (free) and domain for a year) you can't BEAT the advertising cost. Where you run into money is when you pay someone to build/SEO your site.
It's not hard to build a site, just frustrating until you learn how to work with WP. SUPER easy to change/add content. Not HTML and coding skills needed.

Re: Building a Website
Looks good so far!
I would.. ad some call to action stuff like..
"Want to see and feel the Vivid Cleaning Difference,
Schedule online now!" above your enter contact info box.
I would also try put your company logo and lettering as a picture on top instead of just writing it out.
As for SEO stuff.. The big deal now is Local Seo so first thing would be to add your name and address and phone number including area code ( exactly like its on google maps) at the very bottom of every page.
Great start!

Re: Building a Website
after a quick once over i would suggest that your text content be developed from the consumer side. our clients dont understand our talk of powerful blowers and techy stuff. Present it as if they were reading there own words about the services they are looking for.
Second any time you give directions as to things to be done. make them as gentle suggestion and allow the consumer the choice of what to do. use words like you may, we suggest, consider, or if you choose.
Also try to incorporate your local areas in the script with our looking spamy.
a lot of good suggestions to CONSIDER

Re: Building a Website
Wow, really looks nice, Larry!!
Are you doing all this with a free Weebly account, or paid?
After you started this thread I signed up for a Weebly account, but that's as far as I've gotten.

Re: Building a Website
Larry, did you get your site completed with Weebly?
With some experience using Weebly now, do you think that it's a good way to go?............I still need to build a website, and don't want to put time into it unless I'm sure it's a good deal.

after my respond earlier, I did actually get started on it.Mo wrote:Just do it Davey. A website is the best ROI out there
I upgraded my free Weebly account to Pro for $36 a yr for full features, and pointed my domain name (that I've now had for 2 yrs without a site LOL) to it.
So not much done yet, but I've finally got a start!!

Re: Building a Website
Dave, if you want an email associated with your webpage thru weebly you will have to purchase one from the company you bought your domain name from. Weebly will give you one and setup it for you if you purchase a domain name from them. I wish I would have known this earlier. Here is a link for wordpress sites that might be worth looking into. This guy has some great video's and tips on building a website.

Re: Building a Website
Charlie, I like your website and the next one I build will be with Wordpress but to get your feet wet Weebly is easy for the first timer. Davey and I are older and didn't grow up with the interweb but I have to agree the Wordpess sites look much better and probably get a higher ranking but a Weebly site is better than none at all.
Davey start off with the landing page as your home page. You can add columns, pictures and what ever you want. Send me a PM and I'll try and help out where I can. Good Luck.
