I decided that I need to completely redesign my website to match my company's re-birth.  It was due for hosting fees, so I have postponed it and am out getting bids on launching a new site.

The question is, would it be better to keep the old site and try to redesign it or just take it down and launch a fresh look and structure?  I have it hosted by a fellow cleaner out of state and I would really prefer to have it handled by someone local instead to respond faster to changes.  I really just threw one up several years ago to make myself more legit to commercial clients and haven't really made any adjustments since.

Any reasons not to just take it down (might be down already) and start over?  Could I keep the domain name if I transer over?

I have mine hosted by a "local" hosting company...50 miles away....but have another guy that put it up for me...as i cant design squat (changed my word haha)  Laughing Laughing Laughing

I told him what i would like and he gave me a few options...

but i can get on and add pics and change content as needed...(though i am lazy, and need to do it more)

you can PM me if you want any more info

I would keep your current domain name, and just transfer it over........because you have prob have that being used now by some people now, I'd think?......and if you want a new domain name, just add that.

I recently did that with mine and it was actually easy, I was able to just log into my hosting co. site and make the request there, within a matter of hours, maybe a day it was done deal.   cheers

My brother in law is a graphic designer, if you need a professional help, I'll give you his email and you can contact him directly.
I think it's better if you do a complete remodeling with the same web address, and as far as I know the domain can be transferred if it's not on your name.

Just a few things to keep in mind. Make sure you own and control your domain name. You can change hosting services at your discretion. Having you website created in wordpress, you will be able to make most of you own changes relatively easy.
The great thing about wordpress is that it is open source, so there is no proprietary software keeping you to rely on the company that owns a particular software.
Most search engine look at how long a website has been around as part of the SEO package, so the longer you've been visible on the web (domain name), the higher the ranking.
