Water Pre-heaters Empty Water Pre-heaters

Post by milspec6 Sun Aug 24, 2014 5:32 am

I was going over my winter upgrades list and I want to add a fresh water pre-heater to the system to help the HX do its job. In past years, I would fill my tank the night before and let the space heaters get it to more normal temp, but when on commercial work, I often have to direct feed the system with water not much more than freezing.

Does anyone make a decent pre-heater to help raise the temp a little prior to the fresh water tank? I really don't want to add another heater after the HX, but sometimes it can be tough to hold heat over 160 atw on the really cold nights.

Ever thought about an on demand, propane water heater? Like that are in homes? Few hundred bucks and are adjustable.....

Very true, nothing comes free...especially heat.

During the winter, I am almost 100% commercial withmost requiring direct water hook-ups as I will go over 400 gallons at a time.

I have access to the building's,electricity and was hoping that their might be a good device out there to heat the incoming water to the truck.

I actually tried to feed off their water heater once, but it was a pathetically small unit of around 15 gallons. Does any of those electric portable extractor heaters have any value here?

yea as much as you might not like propane, it works good...

mine is flipped, i have the heli-coil to use as a pre heater off the machine...then it feeds my propane unit....

plus the heli-coil works well for heat on furniture so i dont have to worry about the stupid heat a propane puts out
