Davey is spot on here, educating customers will pay off. I think re-stretching is the main service that I see a need for.

I have one customer that will actually re-stretch and clean twice a year. It is a Mcmansion in the hills and that carpet is a sitting room where nobody is allowed to sit. It is just staged by the entry for all to see, but not actually use.

It cracks me up that I am being paid to clean the dust off their carpet 2x per year. Unfortunately, I don't stretch, but should learn for people like this.

What do you guys do for rooms/homes full of furniture that want a re-stretch? I had one customer wanting one in a master bedroom but the bed in there was a full king huge bed frame, would have to completely disassemble it to move it anywhere at all.

Other customers Ive had were the same deal, furniture everywhere and no where to really put the big sectional sofa, entertainment centers etc

Ive done some minor stretches in empty homes, like a rectangular living room with a ripple was really easy but Im not comfortable with tougher hallways or technical areas

Most of the re-stretching I do is in occupied/furnished homes, rarely do I get lucky enough to do a vacant. lol

And it's one of the reasons I charge what I do, the extra work involved moving or navigating around furn. Just ask DP, he helped me on one last week that was packed with furn.

It's always possible, but I can't say it's always easy. Furn sliders, and a Lift Buddy sure do help though. And as far as beds go, queen/king size, I do it often with them in the room, of course you need a power stretcher.

Yes it's doable with power stretcher but it's a pain in the a$$, charge more is all I can say, make sure to include your time to move all their cr@ps around as you stretch.

Ac, why did you say hallway is hard ? Dave did that with a knee kicker and that's the only area he did by himself in 10 minutes Razz

Hall in 10 min ( I thought it was more like 7, but who was counting lol), only because it was loose and needed stretched the length ways of the hall....If it was the other way it would have likely needed to had seam cut and re-seamed, which would have been another story as far as time, but not normally "hard" if you know what you're doing. wink

Just another thing to pay attn. to when quoting a job like that, what exactly it's going to take to get it done!......seams, repair/replace tack-strip and such..
