Spray Jet Alternatives

Spray Jet Alternatives
Ok, I admit it, I am always checking out the machines of other industries to see what ideas I can steal to improve my cleaning. I was talking with an installer working on a automatic car wash today and I was looking at the supplies in his van. He had a drawer full of spray jets that looked interesting and so I hit him up for the details. They were ss 1/4" jets, but had ceramic inserts. According to the installer, the ceramic inserts will last years before needing to be replaced.
So, I check out Dultmeier to see what the details were on these jets. Interesting, they are 1/4" MPT, handles pressures up to 5,000 psi, and spray patterns in 0-40 degrees. Orfice sizes run from 02 on up to a 12! Prices seem to run just over $9 each.
This is the first time that I have heard of ceramic jets, has anyone tried using these before? I might have to order some to see if they have potential.

Re: Spray Jet Alternatives
I have looked into these also and I think the problem would be the degree angle only goes to 40 and most jets we use are 80, 95 & 110 .
Give it a try and let us know.

Re: Spray Jet Alternatives
Good point Larry, I didn't think about that. It still makes me wonder why our industry hasn't tried going ceramic...properly designed of course. Who wouldn't want a 3-year jet on their wand? Especially the tile guys pushing high psi all the time.
Re: Spray Jet Alternatives
Sounds worth the money to me for the extra life of them.
I'm sure the industry hasn't pushed or " hasn't tried going ceramic" because they are not made in the sizes we commonly use.
And I can only assume there's not enough demand for them in wider angles for it to be profitable to the manufactures to make them. ?.....could be wrong though, it's happened before. :albino:
