What rust remover?
Ive used several and my favorite is Rustgo....my reason is mainly for the bottle! they all work pretty good but Rustgo has a small bottle with a pinhole distribution and saves on waste.....I tend to avoid products with fast product release nipples and dont offer control. Ive also noticed some products have cheap containers with lids that wont tighten real well and if you try they strip and now you have a gallon of something with a lid that pops off or wont seal! Ive had two gallons of product drain out while driving so far from a tip over!...it sucks! So, I buy when they care enough to use a container that thinks about us, the end user. The cost is not an issue as much as the clean up and not having something you need when you need it. Is it just me?
Ive noticed Jon Don has many bottles (quart size) for use straight out of the bottle...these have huge holes in the nipple and start to release product before you get to where you want it to land! I wish they would sell in better bottles and smaller would be fine.

Re: What rust remover?
matrix makes a good one. they are all basically all a type of acid.. its starts with an "o" I cant remember the exact name.
high heat does wonders for rust spots, I pulled a few out of a job last week with no rust remover all of it was from legs of chairs where they had a flood in the past.
rust usually comes out very easily, nothing like furniture varnish

Re: What rust remover?
Oxalic acid dihydrate
It is the same acid found in "Bar Keepers Friend" which is used to remove rust from cookware. You can also find it in wood bleaches and you can often find it in a powder form so you can mix up your own as needed.....no waste that way.
If you can't find a good source local, call Joe Bristor and buy a jar. I find that some rust removers might be better than others, but the oxalic acid in powder form will save you a lot of money over time.

I used the Prochem brand, it seem to eat rust up quick, I'll try the Matrix one and may be from JB as well next time.

Re: What rust remover?
I dont mess with the powders for red remover or rust, Â its just too inconvenient especially 2 part etc Â
used the 2 part red remover powder and it smelled really bad then left a brightened white spot after removing, Â mixed it exactly according to directions
I find the pre mixed of both from jon don or interlink work really well and are much easier to deal with
red zone ready is a really good product for a reducer

Re: What rust remover?
I haven't tried Rustgo....never even heard of it.
My local only carried Bridgepoint and Pro's Choice brands and they both did okay, but none of them were close to the value the oxalic acid was.
We stay pretty dry down here so the only rust stains I run into are from folding chairs on commercial and those are pretty easy to get out with such short fibers.

I will know after the matrix I ordered out of convenience if its as good as I say. Ive used this product for years and swear by it BUT Jon Don doesnt carry it and I hate to buy 5 things from 6 places. lol
Notice the cap....its a pin hole and you wont waist a drop.

Re: What rust remover?
Sounds strong enough and I do like the cap, but I don't know about value....it is 75% water after-all.
Re: What rust remover?
Well, if you are buying it and not making it...value is good because waist is down...I hate the bottles they sell us crap in! they start pouring before we get over the spot correctly and drop more than needed and just waist!....this one is a good product and worth more just because of the bottle alone. Anyway, not looking for a major debate on it, just like the stuff and the bottle even better.

Re: What rust remover?
The bottle selection is a big deal with spotting chemicals. Have you ever tried lab bottles?

I carry 6 of these in what was an old glass milk bottle carrier as my spotting kit.

That stuff contains Hydroflouric acid, like the Whinks stuff contains.
If too much HA is absorbed into the skin it can migrate to the bones where it will begin to dissolve them.
I have read about a couple of cleaners who had to have their hands cut open to neutralize the acid when it began to dissolve the bones in their hands.
Be really careful with that stuff.
