Re: Home brew APO?
what float switch do you use?
for some reason I can't wrap my mind around why you would need a check valve at the moment.. so why do you need one?

Re: Home brew APO?
Check valve will prevent back flow to the tank and will keep the pump prime with water all the time

Re: Home brew APO?
without a check valve I would imagine the pump will have to fight the blower since the waste tank is under vacuum
Re: Home brew APO?
Alright do bad news. The $30 pump failed. Upon inspection I noticed no clogs or debris blocking the pump. When I took it apart I noticed the plastic fan had melted from the metal housing getting pushed down on it (I presume from vac pressure). So back to harbor freight for this little guy. I'll be trying again with a different pump soon. Hopefully one with a thicker metal housing that can handle the vac pressure. For the week it worked it was awesome.

Why not electric trash pumps?

Re: Home brew APO?
To reduce vacuum pressure adjust the water level to turn on and off at a higher level , my pump was triguering the circuit breaker due to vacuum resistance after adjusting the water level the problem was fix

Re: Home brew APO?
Sorry to hear the Harbor freight pump bought the farm. Did you buy the marine style or the regular? No problems with mine.
Re: Home brew APO?
I'm considering trading in for another one. Perhaps this one was a fluke.it was the marine one.
I have it wired into the machine shut off float. So I got as much water in there as possible before it over fills

the T is because you can see one line go back to the waste tank and there is one check valve and the other one have another check valve to prevent the pump to fight against the vacuum and is use to drain the waste tank.

Re: Home brew APO?
If my harbor freight pump kicks it i'm going with Francisco's pump. Looks worth the extra money. Thanks Franciso!
Re: Home brew APO?
The reason I ask is because most of the pumps will have the check valve between the pump and the tank but if this works for you is finegtech12v wrote:francisco p wrote:fuzz you should consider my APO, it has never failed in the few years I have been using it, I even ran it dry a few times.
