Chemical Injection
Has anybody ever seem one (the fitting on top of the pump I have plugged off) of these to inject chemicals?" /> It works but is very weak and is probably worn out. I took it apart and it seems to be a check valve, just a spring and seat for one way operation working on the suction side of the pump.
Re: Chemical Injection
Yup may Cat 280 on the ETM is like that its a check valve you attach the hose from the meter there
Re: Chemical Injection
So... I can buy a new check valve and be back in business? It seems like a simple setup but I guess mine is worn out. My Cat pump is a 335.
Re: Chemical Injection
Yeah that it. Some people say that's the most reliable injection system out there. Mine quit working and it was because I had a hole in the hose so you may as well replace the hoses too.
Re: Chemical Injection
This is on the machine I'm building, so it will have all new hoses. I have run the pump up to 900 psi and it's smooth until I take that piece off and then it pulsates from drawing air.
A check valve costs less than $20 so I'm good.
Thanks Mo.

Re: Chemical Injection
Is that your water pump belt? The blue one on the left. Never seen anything like that before.
Re: Chemical Injection
Yes it is. The original machine had either a 3cp or 5cp pump on it which could handle higher rmps. I married 2 machine together and this pump couldn't handle the higher rpms so I decided to run it off of the pulley for the catalectic convertor so I didn't have to change out the electric clutch. It's a lawnmower belt and supposed to be stronger than conventional belts. Time will tell.
Re: Chemical Injection
Also I see u have a clutch driven sludge pump. Are u happy with it? Do you have any idea of what part that is? I'm considering installing one is why I ask.
Re: Chemical Injection
By the way if your doing a build lets see some footage man. I love building units. I already have plans for a new unit that should be done in a year or two. Once I wear out the one I built a year ago.
Re: Chemical Injection
The pump out is a spare from my previous machine. It pumps 26 gallons per minute and will handle most anything except metal ( have one of Joes RC 99 inline). since it has a rubber impeller it's best to have a solenoid switch that will inject water when the pump cuts on to insure you don't have a dry start. I've been running the same pump out on my daily machine for 2 years and no problem.

This has been a winter project but spring cleaning has put a damper on finishing it. I will post some pictures when I'm thru. No big hurry it's just a back up machine.

You can but that is on the high pressure side and costs a lot more. I've been building this one parts that I already had as spares and have a little less than 2 grand in it right now but a lot of man hours. I don't hunt anymore and fishing is off limits for me this time of year so I like to tinker with projects. I just hooked up Joes 2 1/2" plumbing from the waste tank to the RC99 today and made a tray to catch oil from oil filter so it doesn't get all over the machine.
I don't know why it cut off the last picture but I will post more after it's painted with the progression of the build.
Re: Chemical Injection
Thats all thats about shiney at this point. Thanks Joe for a shiney but well functioning filter.
