diaphragm pump

diaphragm pump
I have a white magic pro 1800 that uses final stage chemical injection. I can't seem to keep it running for very long before the diaphragm shreds, so I haven't done chem injection in a few years. Is there a way to keep the injector going or is there a better way than putting the rinse in the fresh water tank? I have an aluminum tank so that is a bad idea imo, what are other options? I see pressure washers use high pressure injection and I see how that could work rigging a siphon on the output of the pump where the quick connect meets the live reel
Re: diaphragm pump
Join the club sir, been dealing with that with my butlers for a decade. In the end, I just rinse with softened water now and don't miss the rinse injection at all.
When you think about it, if you really need an added emulsifier, then you chose the wrong chemistry, tools, or both. That WM is a workhorse, forget the chemical injection and just use better chemistry.
In fact, since I capped off the chemical injection system, my pump runs better with less noise and harshness...my guess is that it isn't sucking some rogue air in the system any more. That is worth more than that injection benefit.

Re: diaphragm pump
What pressure are you running the solution at.
Just have to ask to be sure this the same pump as PC uses when you take the diaphragm out do you have a white disk under it. You should.

You are on the money with the aluminum fill tank. Hot water and alkaline solutions eat aluminum. Ask me how l know...
Any way went to engineering shop and got a stainless steel one made. Problem solved.
l run a venturi to draw chemical on the inlet side of the fill tank with no problems.
Re: diaphragm pump
I'm not sure. It's been a while, I'll have to check. It's on the low pressure side of the pump inside a round brass housing. As far as getting a stainless tank made, that's cost prohibitive. The wm is 13yo and still kicking but I'm not willing to put a lot into it. I have my eyes on a judson or the like
Re: diaphragm pump
Check, the reason I ask is have never seen one shredded. I have seen a hole sucked in it from high pressure. But if the disk is missing let me know I think I've got one I can send you.

Re: diaphragm pump
Does it look like the Prochem Pump?
Mine would destroy that disc pretty fast as well. Got tired of opening the thing up and seeing the new disc with shredded edges. Never had a hole, but the outer ring would be dog-eared to the point of being useless.

Re: diaphragm pump
I believe so. I won't see the van till tomorrow morning. Like I said its been over a year since I fussed with it, but I have some jobs that I'd like to have the rinse or emulsifier running
