Over the past 6 months I have been using Clo2 products (Chlorine Dioxide) to deal with Odor issues with excellent results.
My most recent trial testing is with the Clo2 gas Sachet's. I follow protocol and have the Clo2 alarm and PPE
equipment. Is anyone else using this process as a topical liquid treatment or gas method please comment.
Being an Oxidizer caution is needed just like the peroxide however only a hint of Chlorine remains and dissipates
rather quickly. It knocks out just about any type of odor. I will say don't jump into using this method without the understanding of the product ,safety first.

Dealing with Odor without Masking Empty Re: Dealing with Odor without Masking

I have been doing some research on this topic myself. Its commonly used in water treatment plants all over the world. Right now the few companies selling it in the US for carpet odor are making a killing selling it at 30 a gallon. The stuff costs penny's a gallon. I haven't done much testing but I can see the advantages of the chlorine providing longer disinfecting while the oxide-based release will help with staining and immediate issue relief. Joe any thoughts on this?

I like your thinking, similar to my ozone solution idea. It has been a long time for me, but we used Chlorine Dioxide in water treatment mainly to combat taste and odor. It was effective, but was certainly sensitive to temperature and turbidity of the water being treated....could also become explosive, but I don't recall ever seeing / hearing that happen as the gas separated from the water. Certainly shouldn't happen with the scale that you are talking about...still would be concerned around open flames.

I don't know how well it works as a sanitizer, but it was effective against mildew odors and metallic tastes that were common in field purification. Might be a great idea....where are you getting it?

Yes , very cost effective. Please understand you have to treat this process with caution if you don't big liability.
If you do your homework you will unlock how the mechanism works. Can be purchased diluted or in concentrate.
I've passed some info to MO & Robert so I feel they will offer up a valid response. I followed Joe's lead and put this out here for comment. It's all about new approaches to the same problems we all face. More to come!
