Thats why it not good to high jack threads. They turn into books where half the posts are not even related to the topics.

You must be whooped on your wife. She got you to agree to sit on a pink lazy boy Very Happy

You see what I mean about hijacking? Now someone is going to search a topic about vacuuming and they'll be reading about furniture Very Happy

Do you Vacuum? - Page 2 Empty Re: Do you Vacuum?

Post by Davey Cracker Sun Aug 30, 2015 3:45 pm

Ok, so back on topic........

I pre-vac most of the time, unless I really have a good reason not to, which is pretty rare. But I ALWAYS do before a VLM cleaning.

Some don't need it, yes, because that customer cares to take care of their carpet, and makes sure their vac is clean/clog free and well working. But I'd say 80-90% of people aren't like that (at least around here), either they don't care, or are dumb or lazy and let the filters/bags get so clogged, that they're really not doing anything but wasting time when they think they're vacuuming.....or they just simply don't vac often.

Then rentals, are you kidding me, you're not going to walk into a vacant rental very often then doesn't need a really good vacuuming, doesn't matter what it looks like...
Hell most Mexican renters around here sweep their carpet with a broom, rather than using a vacuum cleaner. So yea, walk into one of those and you don't see any debris, because it's been swept away, but you don't think it's not just LOADED with dry soil?!?
Don't fool yourself, you wet a carpet like that and you're making MUD!.......and good luck removing it once you've wet it.. Sure you may clean the carpet and it looks clean, but if you have a conscience and care about doing a good/proper job, sorry but you aren't.

90% of soil in carpet is what they call dry particulate, which is removed with dry pre-vacuuming.

No one, I'd bet money will do this, but if you don't believe me try it......

You just vac all the carpets for a month (with your well working vac), that the customer tells you "I just vacuumed", or "it was just vac by my cleaning lady yesterday", and just watch what you remove.........you'll be amazed at what you get from most carpets that were "just vacuumed".
And almost no one will do this because they would rather not know the truth, it's easier to pretend it's all good right?........but a cleaner that truly cares about doing the best job possible, and doing a better job than their competition, will do it.

Why do you think your in-line filter is full of crap/pet hair after a job or a day of cleaning?

Do you Vacuum? - Page 2 Empty Re: Do you Vacuum?

Post by Davey Cracker Sun Aug 30, 2015 4:05 pm

Same with furn, but usually worse on it than carpet.  You think most people vac their furn?........No!

I always give furn the slap test before cleaning, I don't wet it until I slap the top upward facing cushions to watch the dust fly.  It's usually worst on the top of the back cushions, but almost always the arms, and bottom cushions need it also.
This is actually an easier and less work test, if you really want to know, if things need pre-vacuuming.  Just give the top of that back cushion a good slap and see what happens.  Heck I've done this and showed the customer, just to sell "Power vacuuming", when they don't want to spend the money to clean it (7-10$ a ft to power vac, and make their home a healthier environment to live in.  Make 30-50% of the cost of cleaning by power vac'in and removing all that air polluting, allergy disturbing dust, and do it in a fraction of the time it takes to clean the furn.
I'm actually surprised when I see one the dust doesn't go flying up, because it's so rare!  I'd say maybe 5% of the furn I clean doesn't need to be pre-vacuumed.

I wouldn't be surprised if these 2 post of mine go ignored, without acknowledgment, because we don't want to hear it right?.........it could mean more work, and we don't want that!!
laughing
Scott (Devon) asked, so if I were to help him in anyway, I'd consider that a success.......be nice to rattle DP also. wink

Ok now Mo, can we derail the thread again?!? Twisted Evil

Teh BIGEEST problema is same poeple misspelled same wards, loke vacuum instead of vakuum, and when you're trying to search, you can't find the damn thread.

Now I'm up to Dave's challenge that my cleaning with my machine and my cleaning solutions will stay clean as long as his cleaning without vacuuming on my end and with vacuuming on his end, the issue is how are we going to prove that ? Razz

I think that's some buffed out cleaner named PD (Might stand for Police Dept.), or something like that I think, he's here in my local area......but I avoid him at all cost, in fear of getting my asses kicked.

You guys are cracking me up with these avatars.... lol!

There are a lot of people that claim the iircrc is a joke and not worth a dime. Well, Davey has just illustrated one of the primary things that is taught in the carpet cleaning course.....90% of soil is vacuumed out prior to wet cleaning, so it is important to always vac.

I guess they accomplished one thing at least and I agree, must vacuum those residential jobs. It is valuable on small commercial as well, but there just isn't enough time to vac up large commercial.

Can you imagine how long it would take you to vac 10,000 sqft with that Kirby? Unless you have one of those super wide commercial vacuum cleaners, just forget it.

I have one church that is HUGE. I do it quarterly. They have a really big walk behind vacuum. It's a good thing as I'd be all day using my Oreck. If you're one of those who doesn't pre-vac you might want to come back after the carpet has dried and see what it looks like. I cleaned the carpet in my car one day and the next day there was a frosting of sand on top. Capillary action brings a lot to the surface during the drying process.

90% of soil is removed by vacuuming?
I thought it was 85%?
But then the iroc never was my thing. Landlords are doing their due diligence, and renters need the carpets sterilized.

That's the meanest face I can do with a selfie, well unless someone on the road honk at me for more than 5 seconds, then I will hmmm nevermind, lol.

You know what, I will have to agree about that car mat, when I clean my wife's car mat, I notice it's always browning out the next day, I usually have to clean it again the next day. But that hardly happens on the regular wall to wall carpet though.
