Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
All the high psi LG heaters that I have seen all carry a decal telling you the pressure rating right on the front of the unit. It should also be written on the data plate, but I suppose you could upgrade the coil to high psi without all those things being present.
Also, the psi relief valve is different...compare them to their website and you will know.
As for the heater....looks like a pre-heater, or maybe a driveshaft from a farmer's tractor.

I hope so Dave only have one job scheduled tomorrow so Ill be testing these suckers out.
Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
That pre-heater sounds like a nice addition to the LG #3. Even if it doesn't get you higher heat, it seems it would save on propane cost and usage.

Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
The HX does look like crap doesn't it If it doesn't leak Ill put some lip stick on it and make it look purty.
I was planing on routing both blower and engine through HX. Do you guys think If I use the HX in place of the muffler that it would significantly reduce air flow. I don't know what the ID on the ports are yet.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Just have to figure out how Im going to mount it. I'm a little weary about drilling holes in the tank
Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
Do you have a way to bypass it when you are doing flood work or just upholstery? If it works, you could be running a flame thrower.

Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
Mo from what I can see of the hx it is for engine exhaust only the exhaust piping looks small could be the picture. For blower exhaust it should be the same size as the existing blower exhaust otherwise you have back pressure causing less vacuum

Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
So, it is best as a pre-heater?
What potential is there to the engine exhaust on a small engine? Can it raise water above 200 degrees or is that really too extreme?

Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
It's not a matter of if it will make 200 degree water but will it maintain it when in use the engine exhaust is between 700 -900 degrees so if capacity of the hx is heated faster than the water is used then yes if not then no.
The way you guys use the high flow wands probably not but along with the 3ht heater it should do well.

Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
Now this is getting interesting....get that driveshaft installed Mo, I want to see this thing in action.
Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
Definitely not the same one as above I think input and outpit is inch and a half
Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
The HX has four tabs and looks like it would fit perfectly on top of the panel. I used some duck tape to test it but it fell off. I would probably drill some holes on panel I were to use the engine exhaust only
Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
Your machine sounds kinda loud, Mo?
I'm curious to see if that HEx maintains anymore than 140, as small as it is....I think it's going to be more of a pre-heater, which I don't really think is needed with a good working LG3 heater.......but maybe it would save a lil propane use with the incoming water being warm rather than cold.

Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
Looks like you could mount that thing using a metal strap holder for fire extinguishers...seems about the same size.
It does seem rather small, but I don't know what it looks like inside...that is the key. What is it Mo? Steel coils, Copper, Aluminum, etc. Any idea on how many twists in the coil?
That motor did sound a little "off", might have been a little exhaust leakage around the tube.
Interesting though.

Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
I bought the little giant and he threw in that HX. I thought It might be fun to play around with it
Rob I have no idea Im assuming it stainless it doesn't have any marking anywhere.
Yes the muffler has a crack in it right were the header connects to the muffler on both sides.
I was ready to mount it again and was removing that elbow and I broke one of the water inlets completely my fault
As far as a LG3 getting hot I thought the LG2 was hot enough so Im sure the LG3 will suffice

Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
Looks like almost half the jets on the LG are clogged. I know what Ill be doing this week end.
Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
Do yourself a favor Mo and buy yourself a lighted magnifying stand. You know the kind like the diamond cutter uses. There pretty cheap and doing jobs like cleaning out the jets is a breeze when you can actually see the damn wire.

Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
I'll just put on my reading glasses Rob. I could see the plugged jets I also blew air in the pipe and could fell which ones were clooged. Time to take a Number 10 welder s tip cleaner and clean them all. Sorry about all the S words

Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
The rust on burner is normal, because it's raw cast iron.
I always remove my jets from the ring, so I clean them properly with tip cleaner and compressed air, and then you can hold them up to your garage overhead lighting and see if they're clogged or if you got them cleaned out all the way. Then you can also blow out the crap in the burner ring by blowing air threw it, with the jets out.
