Re: No water flow out of little giant
Wow, that does look pretty bad.
Can you get the ss coil for that heater as a retrofit?

Re: No water flow out of little giant
Don't think little giant has it in stainless. With a number 2hp I need all of the conduction I can get so copper is probably the way to go
Re: No water flow out of little giant
Oops, I thought you had the low psi #3 instead of the #2.
Now I really think you should just get a new #3 high psi model. Of course, it is real easy to say that when I am not writing the check.

That thing Looks like a sick ell that took too many Tums.
I agree, ditch the 2 and get a 3HT.............I'll write the check.

LOL...........I've always had a #3, and think if I ever bought a new one I'd seriously consider a #4........although, now that mine is fixed, finally, it's hotter than I've even seen a #3, 220-240 deg. all the time, too hot sometimes.

When I called LG to ask them about buying a #2 to boost my HX during the winter, they suggested to forget the #2 and go with the #3. They said that I would never be happy with a #2....and that was only as a booster.
Go with the #3 or even #4.

Re: No water flow out of little giant
Even little giant recommends a number 3 probably cuz your incoming water is cold. In the summer my line get pretty hot I tested at 100 feet and got 200 degrees but I was using my MS wand so the flow was restricted.
Thanks for that info ACE.

Re: No water flow out of little giant
if you want a heat boost ask Kacy about the pre-heaters... Ill take a pic, this thing is bad ass.
It was only an extra 150 bucks, gets the incoming water up to about 130f

Sounds great...looking forward to seeing this thing
Re: No water flow out of little giant
I decided to just replace the coil maybe Ill look into pre heat down the road to save more propane or boost temps
Re: No water flow out of little giant
I decided to cancel my order for the replacement coil on lg2. I have a guy from Phoenix coming over so that I can test a 4 year old LG3 high pressure he said he used for about a year no leaks no welds. I hope it doesn't bite me in the ass, He doesn't know but Ill be taking this sucker apart to inspect the coil. He's asking 750.00 for it. I heard there was an high pressure stamp on the newer coils. Is that true? Hopeful the label is still on the machine, he gave me the dimensions so I know its a 3.
Re: No water flow out of little giant
Are the HP coils just thicker copper or SS? I guess I really don't know...will take a look at my #4 and see.
Re: No water flow out of little giant
Its copper Rob and the loser didn't show up. I canceled my order for that jackazz

Maybe he tried to light it first
Re: No water flow out of little giant
He actually just called be by tomorrow. I take back what I said about him
Re: No water flow out of little giant
He probably got blown up by the heater trying to test it..............you know it's hard to show up if you're in the hospitals burn unit.

Re: No water flow out of little giant
So the guy came buy tonight. I asked him by email if it had ever been welded he said no. It had been sitting for 4 years. It turns out it wasn't welded it was fixed by a good contact of his. He replaced the coil for 500.00?????? Danger, Danger, Will Robinson. It went out twice after he had it lit, I looked inside a couple of jets were clogged. He knew it was high pressure because he ran it up 500 degrees???? Danger Will Robinson. It looked pretty old. It got hot as hell but it didn't buy it
Re: No water flow out of little giant
Wow, Mo........I'd be concerned you had some kind of blockage, that caused so much pressure to build up creating that kind of a "Bulge"!!......I'd defiantly look for any problems before installing a new one.
Make sure you check the inside/backside of your female QD's, from the heater out.....
That's where mine has been clogging the worst. I would think you might have some kind of serious backup to cause that kind of expansion in the copper tubing.

Re: No water flow out of little giant
No blockage it flowed good when it wasn't on. Thats how it blew the last time to ot wasnlt a trickle it was a rupture water all over the botom of it. Copper is 1.25 a lb
Re: No water flow out of little giant
Yea, I figured my blown 30 pound coil was worth about $90, with the scrap copper price close to $3 a lbs. here.
So it's the second one you've had blow that way huh, by blowing up like a balloon?.......That would really have me concerned.....I've had several leaking coils and NEVER seen one expand like yours, makes me think there might be some serious back pressure somewhere that's causing that to happen..........I wouldn't want to replace it again, only to have it repeat for a 3rd time......don't they call that 3peat?
If you don't find the cause, at the very least I'd install one of those 600 psi relief valves to help prevent the 3peat.
Even the one I ran 1500 psi threw didn't blow up like a balloon like that. It did blow a split in it about 3 times the size of your split, but didn't expand like yours at all..........that just doesn't happen, it takes time, and my thought is it's the indication of a problem causing it.

Re: No water flow out of little giant
Maybe the hose you have coming out of the back of the heater is too small dia., and causing the back pressure?
